Just imagine if it had been broadcast in the early 80's like that LOL!
Having to wait 25ishyears to find out who the spiky haired incarnation was

Where are the lines: "Today is to come." "All my love to long ago" from?

Isn't it "To days to come"?

And I've no idea.

They're not 'from' anything, apart from Time Crash itself.

i thought it was a reference to some poetry which the writers are very fond of doing.

I thought it was quite clear - 5 took his hat off "To days to come" - can't see where the confusion lies.

it sounded like they were quoting from something - the script i know but the way they acted it sounded as if they were quoting.

It's definitely "To days to come". I don't think they were quoting anything, just giving each other a poetic send-off.

Well I can find it in the poem "For Your Boy and Mine" By Edgar A. Guest, but I think really it's just a common phrase anyway. Google it, it appears a lot.

While discussiong this story may I make an aside?

Wouldn't Paul Darrow have made a great Dr Who?

Here is the sort of gravitas-enfused actor that the programme is screaming out for.

Ah, but would Real Doctor Who Fans™ accept him after Malin Tekker?

FWIW, I'd entertain his casting...

There has already been a precedent...

Hmmmm...I meant more in terms of the way his performance in 'Timelash' was received by fandom (can't recall if he was slated for Captain Hawkins), not the concept of an actor who has previously guest starred in Who ascending to the lead role.

There have been literally dozens of guest stars whose performances have been real stinkers (not that i think that Darrows was) who we all know could have gone on to make great Dr Whose.

I agree - I didn't think Darrow was nearly as bad in Timelash as fandom made out.

But, he was definitely a pretty hammy villain, and, hence could turn out to be a pretty hammy Doctor, something I didn't think you'd go for, Dervish.

Tom Baker was the most hammy Doctor there has been!

And anyway I want a charsmtitic, mature and gravitas-laden Dr Who.

Darroaw could have been that - instead of Paul Baker.
