Vodafone PAYG phones
I was in a Vodafone shop yesterday having a browse and overheard the salesgirl telling a customer that not all VF PAYG phones will work with a pay monthly sim.Is this true???
Just curious. |

Just curious. I think the sales rep might have been talking about GID1 locked handsets. A bit of background - prior to October 2004 all Vodafone pay-as-you-talk handsets were GID1 locked as well as network locked. Basically, a GID1 lock meant that the handset would only accept a pay-as-you-talk SIM card, unless the GID1 lock was removed. From October 2004 forwards Vodafone pay-as-you-talk handsets no longer came with a GID1 lock so the chances of coming across a locked handset these days is very rare (I've not heard of one for four years now). In instances where an older phone may still be GID1 locked then Vodafone will remove this free of charge. I hope this helps give a little extra information. Again, it's rare you see many about these days but sometimes these questions do crop up ![]() Midlands_Lad Vodafone UK |
