Is it Chinese, fish & chips, Indian or whatever?

I honestly can't remember when I last had a takeaway.

I used to really like Chinese, but I started cooking properly over the last couple of years, and I've gone all health conscious and have got really paranoid about chemicals and addittives and stuff, so I more or less stopped having takeaways. I know I had a Chinese sometime last year - maybe in June or something - and my body was so unused to the chemicals and stuff that I was really ill for a couple of days. So these days I just cook myself, it's easier and I know I won't get funny guts after it.

Don't waste my money! If you want a pizza, why pay £10 in a takeaway when you can get one for £3 in a supermarket

I'd much rather make my own pizza Italian style - it costs about £1! Takeaway pizza is always such a disappointment to me, and there are so few nice supermarket ones.

Chips from the chip shop are the only takeaway I like. Yummy chips, with a couple of pineapple fritters on the side I think chip shop chips are the only takeaway food that I can't make better, cheaper and healthier myself! (Well, I could make them healthier and cheaper but definitely not better).

to anyone who has ever moved away from their home / location where they grew up... did you find it difficult to locate a chinese that had (for example) fried rice that tasted just the same as your ex-local?

i used to love the fried rice from the takeaway near my parents place, but in London i have only just (after 2.5 years) found somewhere that tastes almost the same

Our local takeaway (always called Indian but was actually Bangladeshi!) did a very tasty prawn and pumpkin curry. Sadly the place closed last year and we really miss that particular dish

Still, we have become very acquainted with the local Thai now

Ahh a takeaway thread! A quick question for you I've never had a real chicken tikka masala only microwave ones and one from asda. I decided to order one from the indian about a month ago and it was horrible. It was sweet and turned on me after a few mouthfuls. Is it meant to be like that or can I ask for a more hotter one? Can you tell I've never ordered from the Indian before lol I thought if the microwave ones are good the real stuff must be fantastic!

Chinese is great but I have to be in the mood for it. A nice pizza (anything but Pizza Hut, mind) always goes down nicely.
