I maintain that if they changed the voice of Stephen Hawkins voice box to that of a woman and then got him to read something, it would sound exactly like Kate Nash.

Another vote for the loathe camp.

The lass is totally unoriginal, cannot sing, cannot write songs and comes across as a thoroughly unpleasant whinger.

Although I will say one thing in her favour: she whinges quite well.

I'm in the 'totally indifferent to' camp.

Adore her.

There are some terrible songs on her album - Di*khead is truely shocking but Foundations and Pumpkin Soup are the best on the album.

But any artist has fillers on their album and this is her debut. The lyrics have more meaning that Lily Allen's who just goes for effect "Don't you think that you'll be poking me".

A bright future I think awaits Kate and I hope Foundations wins Record of the Year at the Brits.

And I use mouthwash
Sometimes I floss
I've got a family
And I drink cups of tea

Very meaningful.

Firstly, Mouthwash is the the joint worst song on the album but still my point remains. The lyrics are more subtle and true to real life. Nothing particularly sensational about them.

I could relate the the story that runs through 'Foundations' but not to Lily's 'Friday Night'....

Kate Gash. At least Lily Allen has a few ounces of charm, whereas Gash is the human form of pure irritation. I don't dislike pop stars/celebrities as a rule but her record company need to leave her suffocating in shit lyrics and embarrassment.

I bet you can't get past 1 minute 30 seconds without screaming at your monitor!

Is the record stuck??

Blummin' awful. Her "singing" - if you can even call it that - is insanely bad.

Well I could relate to using mouthwash but what does it mean? Apart from I use mouthwash. "True to real life" is just an excuse to hide the fact that she can't write songs.

Loathe her btw.

I'd have more respect for her if she had more respect for other artists in the music industry. Her snobbery towards others still astounds me , considering she's only been mainstream for a year and writes lyrics like I used to do when I was 8.
What has she said about other artists?

P.S. I hate that word 'artist', as it gets used so casually and so much to imply more credibility to somebody who probably doesn't deserve it. X Factor contestants spring to mind.

when did being cool change. It used to represent individualism
not following the mob - not believing the hype. I blame the X factor.
Somebody who agrees with me about this idea of 'cool' nowadays.

'Cool' used to be used to describe something different to the norm that stood out in a good way which was non-conformist. Now it means being a good little sheep who follows the crowd and celebrates conformity.

I think you've accidentally linked to a video of Catherine Tate as that 'Am I bovvered' character.

I want to say both! Some of the music has a catchy quality but the forced voice and on some occasions gratingly awful lyrics do let her down (to a certain extent I guess they make her too!)

Out of curiosity, would you call Kate Nash an artist?

I suppose so.
If she writes her own songs and music, I'd have to say yes. Even if I didn't think her art was good.
At least she appears to make her own stuff which I'd have to admit is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

What's wrong with that?

It's actually at 1min 30secs that it gets good.

Foundations has a great video as well as being a brilliant song.

I can't defend Mouthwash... cos it's crap. But there's loads of songs out there that are about boring everyday things and are still good.

Pumpkin Soup is about her wanting a guy for just one thing but taking things too far, making him think that something will come of it then shattering his illusions... that goes on all the time but she's made a good song out of it.

I don't know anything about her personally.
But how anybody with her non-voice got a record contract.. is beyond me.

Love for me, met her after last years Reading.

Can relate 100% to her lyrics which are pretty legandary; I use mouth wash sometimes I floss I've got a family and I drink cups of tea- doesent get much better than that.

Shes a superstar here in Harrow, shes not the most talented person to grace the charts I'll grant you that but she writes her own material, sings live and actually has a GCSE and A-Level in music and has a good background knowledge of the music industry and can be defined as an 'artist' unlike the majority of people and groups in the charts today.

I feel sorry for her band. They look cool. She would die a death without them. She tells terrible stories badly. I think.
