I'm sure things will pick up once the show gets going. Early signs look positive if you look at how the posting in this thread compares with the other contestants, about half of which don't seem to even have an appreciation thread yet!

Plus, i have probably posted in this thread so many times - if you look at whose posted more in this thread - my tally will probably come to about half!

Well, the more posts the merrier! I just hope Greg's skating is reasonable. Do you think the fact he is so tall is an advantage or a disadvantage?

I'm not sure - it's an advantage because lifting becomes easier but disadvantage because of the grace/elegance part of it. Apparently Tim Vincent is the worst so we should be seeing Greg in week 2!
The thing about not having defrosted is people can't see the celebs personality as much so they only have a short time to show it. I hope everyone falls in love with Greg.

I hope Greg does well - agree that he shouldn't have a problem with the lifts, and I think we could be surprised by his style - not sure about his ability to show emotion though, and that's what Jason will be looking for.

Still he's got one of the best in Kristina - so Good Luck Greg.

I wasn't paying attention to the telly during his interview, I was convinced it Kermit de Frog.

I'm SO annoyed. I forgot this was on I missed Greg Well, I'll be up til an ungodly hour watching/listening to/watching livescores (whichever I can find!) of the Aussie Open tonight so I can watch the ITV2 repeat!

I don't think there is one - someone said it will be repeated next Saturday on IVT1

I searched on Radio Times and it said ITV 2, Monday 14th 2am.

Just thought I'd pop by to say, I thought Greg was good tonight - my main vote is with Mr Gates, but I'm also supporting Greg & Steve. The sportsmen tend to do very well on this show - Greg's competitive spirit will ensure that he gets better & better.

I look forward to watching him for many weeks to come!

No good That clashes with the tennis.

Greg was completely crap, but you gotta love him.
(Though I think Chris and Jayne should have gagged him.)

He's like an over eager puppy.

I hope he stays tonight, he's 3rd from bottom.

EDIT: YEAH, he's safe.

I didn't think he was crap...he's very enthusiastic and I think he'll do well - Kristina is beautiful!

It's one of those things that you cant predict, isn't it? To me he looks too awkward, too big and too uncoordinated to do well. But I'd love to see him improve.

btw I know absolutely zilch about ice dancing except remembering Robin Cousins and Torvill and Dean at their very best, so I'm probably talking out of my backside!!

I do know a bit about tennis though and Greg was a damn good player, which is why I'm a fan and want him to go far.

Greg through - 1st on the ice in the first show - the nerves must have been horrendous.

Well done Greg !!!

I'm the same...don't know much about the skating either - used to love it in the 80s...I loved him as a tennis player & I also think he's a big personality who makes me smile - that's enough for me! He's really tall, so I guess that makes it harder for him...I still think he'll get better & that's what's so great about this show - the improvements are immense

I thought Greg did well, he was first on and hopefully next week he will be more relaxed

I have to be honest I was a little disappointed with Gregs preformance tonight. I was expecting him to be better but he is still in and can improve hopefully.

But 1st to skate

He really drew the short straw

I'm so glad they're through! I can't wait for the repeat. I know it clashes witht he tennis but I'm going to have to put up with following livescore as I don't have eurosport. And anyway, I really care about Jelena Jankovic's match but everywhere will be showing Serena's on Centre.

lol anyway, that's off topic. I love Greg to bits, I can't wait to see him improve. And Kristina's a sweetheart, they'll make a great pair!

If I'm honest (and I don't see any point in not being), I too was a bit disappointed in Greg's performance, but that's probably my fault for expecting too much rather than anything he did.

I didn't necessarily think he was the 10th worst performance as there were a group of about eight performances scoring between 13 and 16 that could all be classed as 'okay' and were about the same as each other. However, he'll have to greatly improve to stand any chance of winning.

One thing he does have in his favour is it is probably easier to improve in the performance sense (where he had his biggest problems tonight) than the skating, and he does seem to be quite a good skater.

I agree with you there, it must be hard to be first on the opening show. I just hope he improves now. Maybe I too expected too much from him. I think that the standard is very similar for the majority with a few looking better but it is early days and you never know who is going to surprise us all.

I think he looks like he could be pretty good eventually.

Considering it was week 1 and the nerves will have been pretty bad I didn't think it was too bad. He will have to work on the performance/ dance side of things but at least he seems to be able to skate so I'm sure he will continue to improve.

Just seen the show as i was out but i recorded it and i thought Greg was ok - not the best but not the worst - i liked his VT and thought his performance let him down but he does seem more confident on the ice than some people.

I'm pleased that Greg and Kristina are through!

He did quite well considering that he was first on which must have been especially nerve wracking. He needs to improve his dance and performance skills but hopefully that will get better now that he has one dance under his belt.

That megawatt smile will melt a few hearts I think
