I know we've had "which whisky?" threads before - but here we have a new food and drink forum, so it seems a great excuse to have yet another dram...er, whisky thread...

I brought in the bells of 2008 with a wee Laphraoig

But my heart lies with the Isle of Jura. In the summer I drink it whilst watching the glorious sunsets over the Paps - and in winter, I drink it remembering the wonderful long summer evenings (the midges) and looking forward to the summer to come.

On the other hand, I'm quite partial to a Macallan, Highland Park, Ardbeg...well, you name it...

As in the words of Hardie/Donald, the mountains are grand, but Leave Us Our Glens

Count me out, I've never been able to face whisky again since I made myself very ill on it at a friends 18th Birthday party, many, many years ago!

The favouite in our house is Laphroaig Quarter Cask, followed by all the other Laphroaigs. We also like Lagavulin and Macallan 18yrs old.

Laphroaig is my OH's favourite (apologies for typo in op) - followed by the other Islay malts, although of the others Caol Ila is probably his next favourite. It used to be quite difficult to get, but is now more readily available. Any one else know it?

And as someone mentioned in another thread the Sainsbury's own brand Islay whisky is rather good.

I don't like 'normal' whisky, but I love Bourbon. I'm not sure what the difference is, but I can drink Wild Turkey or Maker's Mark straight all night.

Has anybody ever tried Talisker (10 year old single malt)? I recieved a bottle for Christmas, and now need to find a justifiable excuse to start tucking into it
Day to day I just drink Bells with ginger ale or coke, or Jameson irish neat.

Dalwhinnie is one of my favourites, so I'll suggest The Balvenie as another you may also like.
