Pin2 code for O2?
Virtuousdream

I received my Nokia 6500 slide this morning and currently trying to activate security stuff. I've sorted out everything but pin2, which I'm on my final attempt for. Does anyone know the default o2 Pin2 code?

Does o2 actually support PIN2?......... I didn't think they did?

As far as I know, only supported on corporate contracts. (Wouldn't be much use to anyone else anyway)

Isn't PIN2 different for each SIM card?

Well interestingly enough when I rang o2 the man couldn't find the default pin2 for my phone model...anyway, it's all up and running now with my own pin2, not that I'll probably ever need it!

The PIN2 is to do with the SIM not the phone, why did you want to change it?

Because I was messing around with the phone's security settings. If it's not to do with the phone, then why did o2 ask for my phone model as well and looked on a list for it?

You would have to ask O2, as far as I know the PIN2 is used for features like fixed dialling which is a network/sim service available for corporate customers. I might be wrong though.

How did you manage to get it sorted? if you can remember that is.

Call O2 and ask for your PUK2.

I got this and changed the code, however this still doesn't help with being able to turn off the PIN CODE2 request option although having read this article below it kind of points to that it could be that the SIM isn't allowing that option to be switched off.

Mines is a 3G SIM

Many moons ago when I tried to disable outgoing international calls the phone requested the PUK2, when I called O2 customer services I was told that only they were able to change that kind of function (which they did). Apparently if I am travelling abroad and want to reinstate international calling I have to give them a couple of days notice. Maybe I was given the wrong information.

No, their information is correct. Your understanding of PIN2 was incorrect, which is why the phone was asking for PUK2.

Just to re-iterate a point that has been made many times over the years. Don't mess with PIN2 unless instructed to. It doesn't do what you think it probably does.

You can easily end up in a situation where you have to enter a PIN everytime you make a call; or even find all calls barred and a new SIM needed.

As it happened such a long time ago I muddled the terminology in my post. I was after PIN2 in order to enable call barring, which is something O2 obviously do not allow their customers to control independently.
