Hi all
With Tiscali tv do you need a roof top aerial to receive free view or do all the tv channels come down your phone line, currently with sky but this will be going, there tv, broadband and phone with line rental looks like a good deal saving us approx £17.00 a month.

Hi, most channels come down the aerial as far as i know, with the exception of Dave and others like Paramount Comedy and the Sky Channels which goes down the phone line source

I don't have my box connected to an aerial at all as my freeview reception is no good (I have the old Homechoice box anyway). Tiscali primarily delivers live channels down the phoneline, unlike BT Vision which only delivers VOD that way. I get all the channels down the phoneline that can be got on freeview, except I do not receive the additional channels that come through the aerial (+1 channels, The Hits, Virgin1, TMF and shopping channels).

Hi,

NEWLINEtv has actually got that a bit mixed up I think. I know he is quoting MK_Brett but I think it is the opposite way round. Most of the channels come through the ADSL line and a few additional channels through the freeview service.

See here..http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/tv...-0282&srccode= for full info.

As far as I know all other channels included in the other mixes (Entertainment Xtra, sports, kids, movies etc) come down the phoneline and don't have anything to do with freeview.

Hope that helps.

If the channel is a freeview one then your box will reviece it via the aerial and the others will come down the phone line, if you unglug the aerial it will revert back to receiving them through the phone line. if you don't use the aerial you wont receive all of the freeview channels, +1's etc.

Where is he quoting me? I don't remember saying this?
Homechoice and now TTV has always delivered it's content via ADSL. The DTT is a recent add on with some benefits, especially for the PVR.

I didn't know all the channels come down the ADSL line, I'm not a Tiscali customer and assumed (which I shouldn't of) that most of the channels were threw the aerial.

I got my facts wrong, a simple misunderstanding, sorry.

When the box is first installed, all channels will come through ADSL until you do a DTT scan. This will then replace any channels it can with those received through the aerial.

So you should still receive the full channel line up if no aerial is connected.

The only problem with this will be that you will only receive the London versions of BBC and ITV, as this is what comes through the ADSL.
