Local shops just aren't nearly as good.

Cheap Mayo Bleurgh
Unsightly staff with growths on hands bleurgh
Not freshly made rolls/bread/subs
Stupid charges for salads, some up to 30p per item so my usual Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber, Pepper and Onion could be an extra £1.50

Subway is the best fast food.

Sweet Chilli Chicken is just sensational
Chicken Pizziola aswell, its so hard to choose.

Although with my snap fax I can get both, with a drink for about £4 or either as a meal for £3 which is great

I do like their (Macdonalds) Sweet Chilli Deli Sandwich.

Generally, I think both MacDonalds and Subway are overpriced - but we know it. Burger King taste far better than McD, but are even more expensive.

I make my own sandwiches generally, but I do tend to make most things I can buy at takeaways at home. I have never quite mastered how to make the Chargrilled Chicken Kebabs I can buy in town quite as nice as they make them!

Yeah, right, might be better than some, but it's still crap food.

Subway probably isn't much healthier than Macdonalds as the reason their baking bread smells so nice is that they put corn syrup in it.

Still OH and I used to be partial to the occasional subway melt (with lots of salad for me & sweet onion sauce) ands Mayo for him!

I like the chicken teriyaki too.

ive found that even if you vary your fillings, breads and sauces they do start to taste the same...

I'm sure they pump out that lovely bread smell into the street to lure you in

I can't believe I've never eaten a Subway sandwich

Might have to rectify that soon

I'd suggest the shops in your town must be of pretty low standard because there are at least 2 in my town that are miles better than the processed crap Subway churn out.

I am surprised how many people who hate Subway are posting in an appreciation thread. I quite like Subway. Not a gastronomic delight, but pretty good as fast food goes and healthier than some alternatives. I can get a whole meal in Subway for under £5, and if I were to get a sandwich, crisps and drink from my local sandwich shop it wouldn't be that much cheaper.

You don't know what you're missing.

My sub of choice is a rather "custom" one- teriyaki with salami, cheese, jalapeno peppers and chilli relish on Italian or wheat bread, preferably toasted. It sounds a little disgusting, but it tastes lovely

That's a subway trick - get some bread in the oven, once it starts to smell nice they open the doors to get you in. Sorry to put any subway fans off but .......

I worked in a few of their places (as a food inspector) and from what I saw I would never eat in one again

Quiznos sub is much better imho, the places are (ususally)spotless and they might be a bit more expensive, but definitely nicer than Subway!!

*waits for the lawyers to come and get me.....*
