This summer I am getting married and quite a few of the guests are coming from Southern Ireland.

Would love to get the DJ to play some cool uptempo stuff to get them all dancing but have no idea what stuff I should be looking for.
No Corrs or Daniel O Donnell please.

Something traditional would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Also just remembered the Clancy Brothers. Used to listen to them on one of my dads old LP's.

Shucks beat me too it, though finding a DJ with any Saw Doctors is a feat in its self. N17, I Uesta Lover, Joyce Country Ceili Band and Bless Me Father are all great foot thumping songs.

If you want traditional(ish) try Christy Moore or Christy Hennessy.

And don't forget Van Morrison.

Have to agree with Christy Moore and Van Morrison.
Not sure it is "cool uptempo stuff" but sure will make folks have a good time.

Can't believe we've got to 12 posts without someone mentioning the Sultans of Ping (f.c.) !

So many great songs for a wedding....

Where's Me Jumper ? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOqtL7CzDrc) will be great for filling that dance floor, and it wont be too long before you start to relate to this one

add to that - Red Cortina - Thats what she said last night, Hay Wrap , and my all time favourite Sawdoctors ballad - Share the Darkness.

Saw them at the Barras several times at Christmas - unmissable

Erm... Clannad? I think they're quite traditional.

Something more uptempo would obviously be The Pogues

Funny, the OH and I have seen them at the Barras the last two years as well. I agree on the other songs as well, I don't think there is one song that I don't like.
