Ref my earlier post regarding the best budget 32" LCD.
After feedback from the forum plus info from Which(Best Buy) and What Plasma & LCD mags 'TVs of the Year' report, I decided to go with the Panasonic TX32LMD70 - any more feedback?
Richer Sounds appear to have the best price and the cheapest Extended Warranty - has anyone had to use it?
Is it any good? Would I do better buying from John Lewis (more expensive) and getting their free 5yr warranty
When I phone the stores to see if they have one in stock, they all tell me the Panasonic is rubbish and that I should buy LG. Do they have a shed load of LGs they need to shift?

Probably - I can't see anyone recommending LG over Panasonic?.

You also have to watch Richer Sounds with 'graded stock', they are the biggest single buyer of graded stock in the UK. I was talking to a guy the other day who came and bought a HDD/DVD recorder off us, after having FOUR different ones from Richer Sounds. He was never told they were graded, but they all came in Richer Sounds branded boxes, and not manufacturers boxes - which to me screams that they were graded stock!.

Guarantee returns, that have been sent back and (hopefully) repaired and refurbished - they are available at substantial discounts, and while really 'second hand' come with the full 12 months manufacturers warranty.

I have had the Panasonic 32LxD70 for just about a year now - its more or less the same as the LMD70 and I am more than happy with it - picture quality is superb and the best I have seen on a 32 inch set. The sound quality from the inbuilt speakers is above average, but not the best I have experienced - but I use surround sound on my amp for most of my viewing anyways. I would recommend this above an LG set any day ( my parents have one!) - the only feature the LG has that I would like on the panasonic is picture in picture - but its a bit of a gimmick really

I'd agree with Nigel the Panny will be better than the LG

If your paying £599 at Richer I'd be having a look on the internet

Sound and Vision have it for £499

The LMD is basically last years model. Quite good but the LXD is likely to be better buy I would have thought with better management of motion with SD material.

John Lewis also price match providing its in stock and within so many miles. - Here in Nottingham John Lewis and Richer Sounds are less than 1/2 a mile apart on the same road! - if you want the piece of mind of the 5 year John Lewis warranty then ask if they will match the price - what have you got to loose?
I have never had a problem with any of the kit i have bought from Richer sounds though!

I tried to get John Lewis to price match Richer Sounds (I/2 mile apart in Reading), who had the LMD in stock . JL said "It has to be on display with the price on it". The fact that RS had it in stock but not on display, didn't count. I couldn't get them to budge!
However, as JL (Glasgow) are selling the LDX for £599 means I will buy one of those from them instead.

Go for the LXD Pete. It's a better TV.

The 37" Plasma is even better though. Brilliant picture, hugely better than the LCD, for only £50 more!!
