My neighbours have a wood fired pizza oven in their back yard. They truly make the best pizzas I have ever tasted.

Fantastic! If my garden were bigger that's exactly the kind of thing I'd like... pizza ovens also make good "Tandors" as in tandoori chicken

I do like Domino's BBQ Chicken pizza however I am not a big fan of pizza. I also don't like spending £10-£12 on one from the chains when you can get just as nice ones from your local shop for less than half the price.

I hate Dominos thin based pizzas. The base is tasteless, like cardboard.

Perhaps they use FROZEN BASES like many others.

Fresh is best

Yep... there's a third member of the group as well... "Zizzis" but I've only ever seen those in London.

Zizzi is a national chain, there is one in Birmingham and Cardiff that I know of.

Dominos if I had to choose one of them, but I'd rather have pizza from our favourite place in Edinburgh anytime - http://www.anima-online.co.uk/

Eagle Boys do a really tasty Satay Chicken pizza.”

I vote for the Eagle Boys pizzas too! Although for some inexplicable reason the name always makes me giggle

Pizza Express if in town, but takeaway it has to be Dominos.

We always order online as you can chose either free garlic bread or chicken strippers when you do this - plus you chose when you want them to arrive - they usually turn up earlier than the time you select.

Well compared to the pizza you'll get just about anywhere in Italy, none of them exactly cut the mustard, but, in order of preference:

Pizza Express - decent enough pizza with no gimmicky toppings (aside from the ever popular pineapple, which, in reality, isn't that much of a crime). Pleasant, if slightly soulless eating environment, good salads and desserts are a bonus.

Dominos - provided you stay away from the aforementioned gimmicks (bbq sauce topping, ridiculous number of crust varieties, nasty, artificial dipping sauces) you can get a passable pizza here.

Pizza Hut - nasty, disgusting crap, stay well away.

The PE pizzas are all based on traditional recipes except for a couple... soulless? I take it you've never been to the Pizza Express jazz club? or visited Pizza in The Park? or perhaps your local one when they have live entertainment? TBF there are two distinct types of Pizza Express restraunt.. some are franchises , some are part of the original chain. I've always found the franchises to be an inferior product but still heads and shoulders above the other two mentioned in this thread

Er.. I don't work for PE or anything, I just happen to be a big fan LOL

Totally agree

Try Strada - think they are only in London and major cities though

Yep, that's what I was saying. I greatly appreciate that about the product.

Nope, I've never come across these variations, but thank you for drawing them to my attention. If I ever come across one in my travels I'd love to try them out. The restaurants I've eaten in have tended to be very large and airy, with tiled floors, lots of metallic furnishings and very high ceilings. I understand the look they are going for, quite cool and modern, but sometimes it can come across as a bit generic and sterile and that's what I'm talking about.

I agree one hundred percent with your last point.

I prefer Pizza Express though Strada are nice too.

My only real experience of Pizza Hut was short lived as the place seemed to be inhabited by teenage moms with Croydon facelifts screaming at their kids. Not something I'd like to repeat.
