I've never been to a Pizza Express so I can't say which is best out of the 3. But I will say I feel queasy after going to Pizza Hut but I don't get that in Dominoes.

Both methods turn out very well although I find the ready made base will get over crispy if I cook the whole thing longer than 13 mins (in preheated oven).”

It is to cook it properly, that's why you'll have trouble recreating the base at home.

Specialist equipment will only give better results especially if you're making an 'authentic pizza' but you're right it's nonsense to think that you can't cook a pizza in a fan over.

Mine too come out fine and as I always make my own bases, I much prefer it to the incredibly expensive and strangely salty ones that come from my local Pizza hut.

Saying that, I cannot reproduce the stuffed crust which I do love, it's just too bloody labour intensive.

Piece-a-shit,
Dung-I-know or Piece o' press

Make your own
all the above are abysmal
the worst are Domino-no's and Piece o' shit
express is just bearable but only!

try a pizza that uses real ingredients instead of the plastic alternatives like spray on garlic!
or meat that is the remnants of a cows arse scraped off the bottom of the abattoir floor rolled into balls and called a Meat Feast!

I don't think my talents run to trying to reproduce the stuffed crust - but then I'm not overfond of that anyway - too much artificial cheese in it I suspect.

I keep meaning to go to Italy - to savour proper Italian food as it's meant to be - including pizza.

Having said that - I do not want to come back 2 stone heavier!

Proper italian pizza, is very very thin. Its all about the toppings. That cheesy stuffed crap is just marketing rubbish, certainly not italian.

I couldn't recommend any of the pizza places in this thread. Bella Pasta do nice pizzas though. Apart from that the best pizza is home made.

So what if it's not Italian? it's bloody tasty best idea they ever came up with. Hardly just marketing, they've made what was often a wasted crust for many, into something to look forward to.

I was replying to cassini who said "I keep meaning to go to Italy - to savour proper Italian food as it's meant to be - including pizza.". You quoted me out of context.

I like Pizza Hut as a take away or as the fast food little pizza in shopping centres. The restaurants are a bit too child orientated for us now.

Pizza Express is lovely to eat in, they have lovely lighting and a lovely ambience.

Dominoes is horrible, the tomatoes are acidy and the base is like cardboard.
