I've just bought my first lcd tv which is a samsung LE40M86BD, along with a surround sound system, a samsung HT X200R HTK.

I have a couple of questions as i'm fairly new to this which I hope you can help with.

The first is to do with the picture on my TV. The picture is fine with the exception of some shows i'm used to watching, which now have the appearance of a really cheap production.

I'm not sure if i'm explaining it properly, but it seems as if the picture is so clear (funny complaint i know) that some films etc are as if it's a live broadcast as opposed to watching a film which gives the above effect, like something from prisoner cell block H.

Is this to do with my picture settings or is this the way these TV's will show certain program's.

The second question is to do with the surround sound system. In order to get the sound through the speakers I select D IN mode on the DVD player. The problem is that the sound is always slightly out of sync with the TV.

Is there a way I can fix this?

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

The lipsync issue is to do with the fact that the TV takes longer (fractionally) to display the picture than for the sound system to output the corresponding piece of sound.

With SkyHD you can 'delay' the sound by about 120ms which normally evens things up.

Some amps or home theatre units, have a delay option in the menu somewhere, have a look at the options and test it out.

ITV gives a poor picture due to its bitrate. I have sky HD on this TV and ITV tends to be the worst picture. Check different programs on all channels. I think it might be something you'll have to live with. Others may know different.

I also have a Samsung HTK.
Turn on TV and HTK and on the HTK controller press the DVD button so DVD/CD is displayed. If a dvd is inserted press stop so the Samsung screen is displayed on your TV.
Press menu and scroll down to Audio
press right and scroll down to AV-sync and you can delay audio, a bit of trial and error needed.
