I have just had a shop bought "steak" pie for Sunday dinner. It was horrible, tasteless and full of grissle.

Please tell me it wasn't part of the Tesco value range?

That'd practically be gourmet cuisine in comparison to an Iceland bought pie from what I've heard.

They must be bad then. It's well documented on here that the Tesco value mince and onion pies (4 pk) are hardly fit for human consumption.

Oh well. So they're also to be avoided.

I'll take your word for it... I've never been tempted to try either tbh... I'm working solely on second hand information you understand.

I don't usually but if I were going to buy a pie I'd get it from my local farm-shop - they do make pretty good pies. The OH occasionally fancies one for lunch.

Avoid all supemarket bought pies and you won't go too far wrong I reckon...

I would guess that you may just about get away with it if you bought a good quality one from M&S or Waitrose.

It sounds like I'm raving on about pies but they are easy to make and like you say some farm shops (including ours) do some very good ones. It's these thin, watery, grey lumps of pastry that pass as pies and which contain all sorts or questionable crap that really gets me. The idea of a mince pie is not to have to drink the contents.

Anything that has flesh is fair game to me. I live on meat, meat and only meat (with a bit of fish now and then).

The best meat I have ever tasted was from a wild boar. Amazingly tasty and juicy.

For special occasions, I like duck - but I couldn't eat it every day.

Lamb or Kangaroo

and most game.

Not really a chicken or beef fan. I am terrified of eating dodgy chicken.

Fillet Steak, medium rare, yum But don't get it that often, too expensive. Salmon is my other favourite and I eat that a lot. Oh and Gammon

Nobody should be admired for choosing to not eat meat.

Anyway, I digress.
