can the pvr160 firmware be updated in the same way as the pvr80?

Yes, the only difference between the two models is the size of the hard drive

Just to reinforce farpoint's info - I've done the PVR160 myself, it's great. I deleted loads of 'unnecessary' channels, though, so that EPG uploading is improved.
