AVOID tiscali at all costs. i've been a customer for 3 years with homechoice then out of the blue on Dec 21 I was cut off, no TV, no broadband just telephone. When I called HC I was told it was their mistake but there was nothing they could do and as HC dont take on new customer the only way I could get re connected was to join Tiscali. On top of that HC were unable to clear my line for three weeks so I had to start with a fresh new line and number with BT, complete hassle.
While they offered me three free months to rejoin, when the application came through and the broadband was reconnected over two weeks later, i was told they couldnt reconnect the TV as it wasnt available in my area (despite the fact I have a Telsey box which until three weeks ago worked in my area). On top of that my Tiscali broadband now operates at around 128k, not 8MB as advertisers. Like I said avoid Tiscali, and all who are sinking with her.

just to echo what dhvd said DONT DO IT!!!! I also am a long standing HC customer and when I decided to change I was amazed at how unbelievably incompetent Tiscali were. (Check my recent post).. just stay put you are better off even if you are paying more!

Does anyone know if we HAVE to switch to tiscali?

All the posts on here are horror stories and if i can avoid that by staying on Homechoice i would even if it is more expensive!

There will come a point were you will have to change to Tiscali. This will happen as a migration and should be Q1 this year.
I know there are some horror stories on here, and some make me cringe, but there are plenty of good stories too. A current thread http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=722905 highlights what I mean.

Thanks for the reply,i've read that thread and even posted on it,however there is not a single post on here where someone has switched from Homechoice and it's gone smoothly which is what worries me.Is it really that hard to get right?

With great candour, MK_Brett writes:

However, IMO the service is essentially sound and value for money. It is mostly the way that the service is delivered that is subject to criticism.

Feedback from forums such as this are not necessarily representative of typical users experiences, but should lead to improvements for everyone in the future.

Keep up the good work MK_B!

I agree and i applaud the efforts of MK_Brett but as i've stated elsewhere i have been with Homechoice nearly 3 years without a single problem but i fear that when it's switched to Tiscali that will all change,i had dial up with them years ago which left a bitter taste in my mouth !

I really do hope i'm proved wrong as i like the service and the pricing, only time will tell i guess.

Hi, RyanL,

We are working on a project that should make the switchover easier, more straight forward and less prone to error. We will be inviting people to make the switch in Q1 and you should receive a letter featuring some of the new, better value packages we will be offering. Once switched you will also be able to upgrade to Tiscali +

dont get you hopes up, here's how tiscali are switching me over. after finally reconnecting the line (after making a mistake in the switchover) they now have to cancel the line again and do another switchover. basically it's all over the place. go to sky, so simple

I have to say that my experience with homechoice has always be a good one., Good Customer Service, Generally no down time on either tv or internet (the only big problem was with the emails just recently).
What is Q1 (its probably a simple thing but i have just woken up and brain is still sleepy).

I had moved to NTL about a year ago as i was keen to get Sky channels and at the point homechoice didnt have them. NTL were so hidiously bad from the first day i switched back to Homechoice. Homechoice really are/ were great!

If/when we are moved from Homechoice to tiscal i gather we will start a new 12 month contract which is fair enough but what is the cool off period on this because if i have as much hassle with it as some on here i will be getting rid of it asap.

Cheers
Ryan.
