Burn In Mode
The other month I found the engineering menu on my tv.
Now I know what most settings do as I have used them before etc, but one of the options is Burn In Mode and it is Off. Anyone the foggiest what this is? |

Is it a Plasma TV?
Burn-in, on the other hand, is permanent. Since it is caused by uneven aging of the screen phosphors, the "burned" image will persist forever, like a tattoo. It can be caused by spending a lot of time watching stuff in a 4:3 (non-widescreen) aspect ratio, watching a news channel with a stationary "news ticker", or playing a game with stationary screen elements. Just as a tattoo can be removed with a great deal of effort, there are ways to fix a burned-in screen. But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure: follow a break-in procedure when the set is new. |

So I guess it is an option used for when the TV suffers from Screenburn. You run this and it fixes it self? |

Check with the maker if you don't have the instruction book anymore.
Maybe they do it at the factory?

It is an LCD, sorry about that.

You run this and it fixes it self? Definitely leave it - that applies to everything in the engineering menu that you're not absolutely sure about. |

If it's in the engineering menu and an LCD it may just be a mode they stick it into for manufacturing burn in - only guessing, sorry.

If I do change anything, I always right down what it was on before and change it back afterwards, but when paying £400 think i'll leave the menu alone for now. Stvn758, it is in the engineering menu (Hidden), so isn't listed in the manual. |

Yes that was my exact thought, but the name sounded good to look into it.
