after posting my most embaressing culinary disaster, about my putting chinese five spice on my hubbys mince pies and cream by mistake, rather than cinammon, on cazzas post.

it got me thinking, if any of you have made major boo boo's in the kitchen?

did anyone notice, or was anyone sick?

The other night my flatmates forgot about some roasties they'd put in the oven. When they took them out they were lumps of charcol absolutely rock-solid and not a fibre of potato in sight, just a massive black lump! Made me laugh so much.

I was once making a pork casserole and intended to add some mustard, but picked up a jar of lemon curd.
That tasted 'interesting'.

I rarely have accidents in the kitchen but when I do I screw up big time ! I once put a pan (of metal) into a microwave (when I was much younger by the way) and heard this noise. Went into the kitchen to see what it was and saw electrical sparks shooting about inside the microwave. Turned it off at the plug immediately.

Another time, I took a call while making some cheese sauce for a macaroni I was making, and came back to find it had practically turned black in the saucepan. The milk in the cheese sauce had boiled over as well, and become one with the top of the oven itself.

I also put peanuts in the microwave oven without thinking, and they turned black as well.

I overcooked a chicken about two years ago, and the thing was so well done it fell to pieces when I tried to cut it up.

The lid came off my chilli flake pot as I was adding some to my stir fry. I tried to scoop the extra chilli out but failed, resulting in a tear-gas flavoured stir fry.

God yes. The amount of food i have wasted is incredible.

The worst was a guiness casserole. My parents were coming over, and i followed this Delia Smith receipe by the letter. I went to Tescos and spent a fortune on ingredients, and slaved away all day. It was god awful, with watery gravy and bitter tasting from the Guiness. It went in the bin.

For pudding the same day i did a mixed berry fool. I spent ages steaming the fruit, putting it through a sieve, mixing it with cream etc - and there was barely any taste.

I was so embaressed, that i really dont cook often from scratch anymore.

The fist time I made a cheese and onion pie, I put in equal amounts of the cheese and the onion.

The flavour was so strong, nobody could eat it.

I do a bit of cake decorating, not professionally though.
I did a cake for a friend's husband's 40th. He wanted a Range Rover for his birthday, so she decided that was the cake she wanted.

I hate doing cars, as they're so difficult to make them look realistic.

This one was looking especially wobbly.
On the journey to the party, I was driving along, trying to avoid the bumps in the road. I turned the corner, the cake box slid away from me. I lifted the lid to see the whole cake had collapsed in the box. It looked like a car crash.
I had to buy some party cakes and apologise profusely. I was mortified.

Not a bad thing really but......years ago when on holiday a friend of ours would insist on wearing these sodding moccassins(sp) this was on a boating holiday considered not good footwear! he had many an accident !Anyway a couple of years later......On another holiday we got them cooked/boiled/fried....with nice salad ingredients for his starter......Our friend his face was a picture
