Agree 100%. Anyone knows that plastic bags makes bread go limp.

My local baker used to sell fresh warm, crusty bread in a white paper bag. It was so good that we'd have scoffed half of it (without butter) before we got home so had to buy two.

I always make my own. A homemade loaf beats shop bought every time and mine is always nice and crusty

Tiger bread is beautiful and has a life of its own. It puffs itself up if you squash it or accidently squash it carrying it home from ASDA.

There's a local baker not too far from where I live they have been a family concern for years over 80yrs....Their bread is fabulous.......they either wrap the bread in white tissue or a paper bag..........stays lovely and crusty for ages.......just how fresh bread should be ! They have sold out by about 1pm! If not before that.........It saddens me that all these lovely types of shops are dying out ! Wouldnt be suprised if this little shop dies!!

Sad thing is, the shop I mentioned closed down last summer, after around 70 years of baking. The whole street is to be rebuilt so it wasn't that they went out of business. Sadly, the old girl who owned and run it was too old to take on a new shop.

The bread and rolls were sublime.

I mourn the passing of proper bakeries and grocery shops - in fact of all proper shops.

Local bakers don't exist in my town anymore unless you count the one in Dover Road in the post office.

They do not look very clean in there and I have not bought baked products from them.

I prefer to make my own bread but unfortunately, the bread maker fell off a shelf and commited suicide.
