I'm on BT and I'm in need of a new cordless phone, i'm looking for something with the following features:

1) speaker phone
2) able to mute microphone (example: talking to someone in the room without the person on the phone hearing etc but still be able to hear them.)
3) and also answer phone (not required but would very much like this)
4) cordless

any recommendations? as my current phone isn't very good at the mo.

There don't seem to be so many phones with mic mute buttons these days (that I've noticed), but certainly my Panasonics will not pick up sound if you have youd finger over the little hole in front of the mike.

I occasionaly get people saying I've disappeared because a finger is half covering the hole.

Trouble is you need to actually try one to make sure this works.

Look at Binatone G11 good cheap phone. From any Argos in the high street. Should do what you want speaker and mute buttons and answer phone. I got a twin set the other day in Carlisle. Though there are more expensive phones. It depends on what you want and how much

I would also recommend Panasonic DECT phones, not the cheapest but for quality and reliability they are good, they all DO have a mute button.

I have a Panasonic quad handset, less than twelve months old and there is a mute button on each handset, also checking in the latest Argos catalogue they all have mute buttons, I don't know which model you have but I would suggest you have a look at the instruction book.
