Cable/Satellite & Computers

I hope this is the right place. Please let me know if it isn't.

I'd like to find some way of porting everything I watch and listen to through my computer. Including HD (even if it isn't recordable).

I've obviously solved the music and recordable SD video/STB reception. I can easily capture SD using my Camcorder as an AD converter and capturing it with a firewire connection to the camera, but video is only really achievable using a composite output from whatever device.

Does anyone know of any technology that might help with that? Do any HD Camcorders sport a HDMI or HD VGA/DVI connection?

Of course using a camcorder isn't the ideal solution, a HD version of a capture card would be the real answer, I suppose.

Changing channels should be possible via the computer in particular - so that I can keep the STBin a different room, if required.

Definitely a candidate, next time I get £175

It would have to be the Pro version though. The standard one doesn't support simultaneous digital audio input.

you could ask for dvi input ? and get hdmi to dvi cable and get a separate cable for audio ? might be cheaper ??

they will become more popular so become cheaper
