I have a 2 year old 42" Samsung Plasma TV with built in digital tuner - does anyone know if it is likely to be NTSC compatible?

I would say yes, my old Phillips CRT box TV played NTSC and that was decades old.

I would think so. Most TVs made in the last 10 years or more have been able to display NTSC sources via composite or s-video inputs. HDMI does anyway as it isn't colour system specific.
