Has anybody had a second physical line installed by BT?

Reason I ask : I have a BT line (recently physically installed) running BT Broadband and BT Vision.

I am contracted for about another 14 months with BB so I have to keep it.

I also want to keep my BT Vision so need the BT BB.

However....

I fancy getting a BE 24Mb BB connection so therefore would want to rent a second BT phone line solely for that purpose.

Just wondering if anybody had experience of getting Openreach to install a physical second line ??

I had a second line installed about 5 years ago. It wasn't a problem as I had 4 or so spare pairs wired to the property. The BT guy just had to run a cable into the house and do a quick patch in the green box in the street and it was working.

Same here, had a second line added when I moved house in early 2001. There was only 1 pair in the really old cable between the house and the pole, but the engineer put a new cable in which has several pairs in it, meaning the old and new "lines" all physically go through 1 multicore cable to the pole. This terminates in a box on the house and wires then go to the two master sockets (on different floors). He also spent some time in the green cabinet around the corner - I guess he was pairing things up as necessary.

Thanks all for your replies - I think I will call BT and see how they are going to overcharge me for it.

Good luck!!!!!

Had a second line put in before xmas, what a nightmare, paid the £100 (can't rmemeber exatly how much), they scheduled 5 appointments and never showed up, had to ring BT HQ. I still have 7 complaints running with them, each time saying they would ring me back in 24 hours.

I am now finding that the second line turns itself off in the wind and rain, raised a line query and spoke to BT who sne t me a text message to say it was being looked into but nothing back from then as of yet.
