today i bought a durabrand dvpr801 from asda,
evrything seems quite straight foreward am i able to record from my sky box to this set?if so how do i set it up?

No. More or less all PVRs with digital tuners (and no DVD recording ability) record the digital streams direct to the HDD and therefore do not offer to record external sources (i.e. no analog->digital encoding). They are intended for recording Freeview channels only.
