Any news on singles/albums to be released from these two?

I did like Jordin a lot, but Melinda was truely robbed, and Lakisha on her day was brilliant - she was just so damn inconsistant.

Melinda's definitely recording but there's no sign of a deal. Thoughts are that she may be doing it independently.

Lakisha apparently hopes to start recording in May. That's going to be self-produced too. At the moment she's got a part in The Colour Purple.

I cant believe no major label touched them. They were easily 2 of the best contestants last year - Melinda in particular was outstanding.

It could be that they're negotiating and just can't say anything yet. Sanjaya's recording too but hasn't been open about a deal. Only the top two (who didn't do all that well, especially Blake), Phil and Sligh definitely have a deal. Chris R is headed that way but hasn't signed yet.

Ms Dolittle is truly an extraordinarily talented singer and Lord knows why she hasn't been signed by a major is astonishing, even moreso when you look at the floods of mediocre bordering on talentless R 'n B 'wailers' that get catapulted to stardom. I've been calling her Melissa too.. another senior moment ! Lakisha I could only do in small doses but I love big belting Church singers.

KBBJ, you seem to have the inside track on AmIdol, what happened to Taylor Hicks ?

As you were KBBJ, Hicks has been given the elbow by his record company for shifting less than 700,000 of his 2006 album.

Yep, but they've got first option on his next CD. If they like it, they can release it, so it could've been worse, tbh.

His most memorable moment was Hicks walking from the elevator to the far side of the room whilst playing his harmonica to be told he was in the final 12, the rest all blurred into a series of those head-to-the-side-h-e-e-e-y-Ray-Charles moments. One of the the AmIdol sites has said one of the Philadelphia (or was it Dallas) hopefuls picked to go to Hollywood, could be this year's Kellie Pickler. I'm a big country music fan (nobody mentions Josh Gracin in those what ever happened to so and so strands do they ?) and I thought Pickler had an outstanding voice.. dumb as a rock bless her but a great voice and very pretty to boot.
Truth to tell I put her on a par with Underwood who I thought was abysmal on that Africa charity show they did, like she didn't give a rat's ass and was way above it all.. she looked like a bag of rubbish too.

His green mile moment was great - that was the first time I'd even seen AI. He was certainly value for money back then, and I'm glad he won even though Elliott had the best voice, imo.

was a hair-up-on-the-back-of-the-neck performance.

I'm really glad Elliott got his deal. What with him, Daughtry and Pickler, it proves you don't need to be in the final two to shift CDs.

If you're into country, what did you think of Phil last year? He's getting decent radio play with his first single, and since country's a huge market in the US I think he could do well.

Mind you, I genuinely thought Blake was going to do better than Jordin, so whaddoiknow?

I wouldn't write Melinda or Lakisha off yet, especially the former. Probably best that they're not releasing while the writers' strike is on, in any case.

Yes ma'am... if harmonies flick your switch there's a huge act in the states that are being tipped over here later in the month called Rascal Flatts. They're massive over there and will be playing GMTV and Loose Women (!!) on the 29th along with a short 4-5 song set in London somewhere I believe.They sang "Life is a highway" on the Pixar movie "Cars" soudtrack.

I've heard of them - something to do with Phil's new song, I think, but I don't know whether they or a regular writer of theirs wrote it. I'll keep an eye out, if they're going to be around.

I pity the poor sods being on Loose Women. No one deserves that. Still, that's what the DVDR and the fast forward button is for, innit.

I haven't heard about a deal for Haley at all, only that she split up with her bloke, moved to Nashville and has been seen out and about with Blake.

Acapella is bloody hard at the best of time, fair shout to the guy, maybe just one teeny weeny flat one in there but it sounded pretty good actually.. natural corridor reverb an' all ! I'm not watching AI this season (AI6 seemed to take over my life and I refuse to do it again), but I hope you enjoy it. From the earlier reports there seem to be a few country singers, so you'll be in heaven.
