Sony 870 - assign channel numbers in EPG

I've just bought my shiny new HXD 870

Unlike my Bravia TV, it doesn't seem to manage to put the freeview channels in a sensible order - the terrestrial five first, TV before radio, etc. There is of course a way of manually shifting them around, but this only seems to let you swap channels around, not place them in vacant slots.

To show what I mean, at the moment there is no channel 005. Clearly I'd like to drop 'Five' into this position. But when I move it around, I can only get it to drop into 004 or 006, where there's a channel whose place it can take.

Anyone have any ideas? Or better still, is there an automatic way of doing this, without manually changing it all around? For what it's worth, the HDD and TV are connected by HDMI.

Thanks

You can put them in order.
1.Initial setup,press enter
2.Digital tuner,press enter
3.Channel sort,press enter
4.Press the up/down (arrow) buttons,to select a programme position and press enter
5.Press the up/down(arrow) button,to select the programme position number to swap for selected one in step above, and press enter.
You are remembering to press enter, every time, otherwise it won't be changed?

Thanks for this reply.

I had managed to get channels to swap places in the list. The problem is, I want to be able to type the same channel number that I can on my TV. So if I want channel five, I press 5. And so on.

Trouble is, when my recorder did its scan for channels, it didn't assign ANY channel to position D005. The only way that you can move channels in the list is to swap existing channels over - so if there's no channel in 005, there's nothing to swap with, and you can't get a channel there!

Have you tried rescanning again, and see if D005,becomes occupied by Channel five?
