best retention offers
i tend to upgrade every 3 months so don't get this far. but my niece is on O2 and has been for 10 years and every year at month 13 she always rings up and plays the i'm thinking of leaving routine. this year has been a peach.
offer of free handset from 1. LG Viewty 2. N95 (with 8gb card) 3. N95 8gb (awaiting stock) continue to honour another 12 months at current rate 300 mins and 200 texts @ £12.50 per month and give first month free. Considering the low monthly tarrif i thought getting an N95 8gb was a great offer!! anyone else had great deal like this?? and from what network?? |

I rang Vodafone today telling them I wanted to leave. They offered me nothing at all to try to keep me but just gave me the address to send my letter of termination to. Cheers Vodafone!

Orange offered me;
HTC TyTyn II (Which I'm probably going to sell) 300 mins + 100 texts £50.00 cashback 12 month contract for £10.00 pcm. Mind you I spent a fair amount per month, so they probably didn't want to lose me. |

the guy asked me why and i told him i wanted a sony ericsson w960i and to stay on my currant minutes on a 12month contract. when i phoned up on the sunday i was told the only way would be a 18 months which i will never sign up to the guy said wait there a minute and came back and said that be ok so i got a free w960i with 750minutes/100 txt on a 12 month contract for £35 a month to me that not a bad deal when o2 are doing about the same for £40 on 18 months |

Network interconnect charges are probably being considered as well. You are a much more attractive customer if you only phone people on the same network as they have less to shell out.

that rate doesn't even cover the cost of the handset so i expect her actual bills must be a fare bit higher. before she jumps in she needs to see what her actual usage is.

I just got a retention deal from Orange where I got 150 any network minutes and 300 texts. Also free evening and weekend texts, as well as a free Nokia 6500 Slide, which is an alot better handset than I thought it would be.

I got told when i was going to move my number away from T-Mobile that I have a discount on my account and that they would offer me £10 a month off any Flext Plan if i just took the sim only without a phone i thought if you never took a phone anyway they would give you £10 a month off the contract then if you had a loyalty discount they would give you that on top of that? I was annoyed at this as my T-Mobile account is nearly 2 years old and the fact that O2 Simplicity contract free offers beat T-Mobile hands down!
Why don't the networks open their eyes and look at what the competition offer? I mean here's a comparison: T-Mobile justSIM 40 1200 mins & Unlimited txts 12p/min voicemail £1 per day browsing or £7.50 for 1GB per month Picture Messaging 20p/mms £40 per month O2 Online Simlicity 35 1200 mins & Unlimited texts Free Voicemail 1Mb Browsing included or £7.50 per month for 100MB per month Picture Messaging included International Traveller Service £35 per month So not only is O2 £5 cheaper but they also include voicemail and MMS and some browsing also cheaper rates whilst abroad. I like the T-Mobile network as it gets full 3G signal nearly everywhere you go if they just set their pricing alot better then i'm sure they would get more custom. Another one who need to really get their pricing into gear are Virgin Mobile if I could get the same on Virgin as I could with O2 i'd be with them in a flash. |

I just got from o2
Free N82 (they wanted to charge me 89 quid at first) 1000 txts 400 mins Unlimited o2 to o2 calls £7.50 a month bolt on for wap browsing For £37.50 a month I was pretty chuffed with that, especially as they were about to charge me 89 quid for it. I fibbed and said i'd seen it free in the newspaper with someone else. |

I've been with O2 for 5 years and thought I'd try and haggle.
Managed to get an N81 for £39.99 on a £30/month 12 month contract instead of £35. That's 1000 texts and 400 minutes.. they also said I can use some kind of long-term customer thing called 1122 or something which gives me extra minutes and texts every month. I was on a £20/month contract before, so it's not great, but not that bad either I suppose as the purchase price at £30/month is £89.99 - so I think I'm saving that £50 and also the £60 on the rental fees over the year. edit - just realised.. with the upgrade from £20 a month, that leaves me £10 short over the year!! lol.. I suppose the phone makes up for that

From 02 they gave me a Nokia N95 (which I requested) plus 600 mins per month, 1000 texts and free calls Sat/Sun/Mon. 18 month contract for £25 per month. I also added unlimited web bolt on £7.50 so I pay £32.50 month which I'm happy with. Basically I found the best offer I could which at the time was with 3 and said I am leaving for this and they matched it. Oh nearly forget they also matched the £20 voucher but I chose 2mb memory card instead.

O2 gave me a k850i free for £15/m, 200 mins and 400 texts. I've sent it back due to technical glitches but I want a viewty instead - I'll see what they offer me, surely it should be a comparible offer..

They'll probably give you the same phone. I believe phone companies have a policy whereby they give you the same handset a maximum of three times then offer another handset, but this isn't always the case.

No it was within the 7 days of purchasing, so I can still cancel the new contract.
