Favourite Cookery Book

Have you a cookery book that you use more than any other. I have hundreds, and go through phases of using them, depending on my mood and what I fancy cooking/eating. At present I am using my Simon Hopkinson books.

I am also at present looking for a good book on slow cooking as I have never used my slow cooker and am thinking with this cold weather, it would be nice to start using it. Does anyone know a good book covering this? Any ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks.

I couldn't possible have just one favourite cookbook -
For Italian it has to be Ursula Ferrigno
For Indian my current favourite is an Anjum Anand book - can't remeber the name but it's not the one which goes with her tv series. I also have a copy of 'An Indian Housewife's Recipe Book' which I've been using for years and years and always go back to.
For basic English cookery and baking Delia Smith is unbeatable.
For modern cooking I love Celia Brooks Brown, Denis Cotter and Peter Gordon - I use their books a lot.

The Conran Cookbook.

I've got this edition:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Conran-Cookb...9953809&sr=8-2

but I think you can pick up a paperback now too. It is a stunningly good 'general' cookbook with some fantastic recipes.

An absolute classic as is the other one she helped pen:

This has some great 'home style' Indian recipes in it.

Vegan Cooking For One by Leah Leneman. I don't use it so much now but it was completely invaluable when I first became a vegan.

Hot Damn and Hell Yeah!: Recipes for Hungry Banditos/The Dirty South Vegan Cookbook is one of my favourites now. Full of 'unhealthy' vegan recipes and loads of anecdotes etc

Rose Elliot is a favourite of mine. I use her 'Vegetarian Meals in Minutes' and 'The Bean Book' and 'Vegetarian Express' quite often.

Some more favourites:

Leiths Vegetarian Bible
The Cookery Year - Reader's Digest. Had it for donkeys years.
Sara Lewis - The Bread Book
Good Food Magazine - 100 Cakes & Bakes
Women's Weekly - Cakes Biscuits & Slices

And the good old Bero Cook Book.
JustMe.

I have lots of the Good Food books (as well as a magazine subscription) and find them really good.
They are catergorised nicely as well.
Cheap eats, Simple Suppers, Chocolate treats..

I have the Women's weekly Cupcake book and think that is also really good.

Chef-wise, I really like Bill Granger's Sydney Food.
A book filled with clean-cut dishes and pictures that really do resemble the product that you produce. His Sweet Shortcrust pastry is delicious.

Yes I get Delicious and Olive magazines every month and there are usually some good seasonal recipes in them as well. I have had to go through them and tear out recipes as I was running out of shelf space for my books!! Now I have freed up some space I have room for a couple more books!

Farmhouse Kitchen Cookbook based on the TV series that used to be on in the 80's. Loads of traditional recipes and I make my Christmas cake using the recipe from this book every year. The book only cost me 50p from a charity shop about 10 years ago lol
