What sort of phone have you got? It's compressed so that it fits on the phone. Infact they're only about 50kb

You can get a Wavto MFM converter from www.gd87.it

Not sure if this works the other way though

You don't say what sort of phone you have, but for my Samsung v200 I use Yamaha WSC-MA2 to convert wav to mmf. The wav files need to be downgraded first (details are supplied) and for this I use dBpowerAMP.

Both are free programs. A search should sort you out.

Interesting. What's MMF? How does it differ from MIDI?

It differs Tristan because it's basically a compressed wav. And yes you can have REAL sounds on your phone, although you have to be careful which song or sample you want to use as you can tell the quality is poor.

On my GD87 I have some MMF files. You have to doctor them by using Windows Recorder., but the best format available for the GD87 is 16 bit mono@8,000hz.

Not great as I'm sure you've worked out. But it's good for voies etc. I have my message set as Barney burping out of the Simpsons, it sounds hilarious!

Not sure if the T610 supports mmf, although the tones sound great on that anyway. Suppose you've been to www.myt610.com ???

dbpoweramp here

yamaha here

A google search brings up lots of references to it. My phone came with a CD, EasyGPRS which allows to to download picures and melodys to your phone. You can also save photos you have taken to your computer and edit your phonebook with this.

If you don't have the CD you can download the program at www.samsungmobile.com

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help.

do you reckon this program http://fp.freefonefun.plus.com/convertmidi.htm would do the job more easily?

It looks a little bit complicated but the instructions are reasonably clear and it should do the job.

Most sound files are wave (wav) files though so you may have to convert anyway.

Give it a go but you will find my way easy once you've worked it all out (wet Sunday afternoon required!)

Good luck!

I presume that it can be done but I haven't looked into this myself.
