Early upgrade with Orange
Im sure im not the first person to ask this but.... Can anyone gimme some tips on how to get an early upgrade with orange? Ive been on Dolphin 35 since September 06 and i upgraded my handset in February 07 (agreeing to a new 18 month contract in the process). I called last week to upgrade to the LG Viewty but they wanted £100 upgrade fee from me. They said i was category 2 or something. My typical monthly bill is around £55. Im not saying i was expecting to upgrade for free but £100 seems a bit much. Ive heard that orange arent fazed by the whole "i want to leave" thing either. Any help would be appreciated. Ta much!!

All new customers have to pay £29.99 for the handset too, so considering you have a long time left on your contract you are only paying £70 extra. I'd take it.

Aye, forgot about retail being free. I wish it was for us too, but theres no chance of it being free, just like the N95 due to reasons I'm sure you are aware of, but can't really speak of

Aye I know you guys did with that, but no chance of them removing the £89.99 for us

Uprgrades and Retentions are different - I did specifically say new customers in my post.

true... breaks the ethos a bit though when orange say they offer the same deals for existing customers as they do new!! |

Orange have never said that mate, no mobile phone operator does say that. One of our big targets is to reduce "churn" we can only do that by offering loyal customers great benefits, that we cannot offer to new customers because we'd go bust

Im on a 18 month, and £35 a month contract on Orange, and have been since last April. Can I upgrade my phone just now? And if so, how much will it cost me?

Yes you can. There will be an upgrade fee because you are upgrading early.

If you are in an 18 month contract and upgrade early, is a new 18 months added to your current contract, or does it reset to 18 months?

The N95 is not free for anyone. If you are in UIC 1 the handset will be £299, if you are in UIC 5 it will be £49.99.
rumours have it that the N95 *gb isn't out on orange due to the numbers of N95's still in stock, is this true?? I know its a packed handset but it was released in sept 06 making it quite old in handset terms. so why still the charge when its free elsewhere?? cheers neil

Remember Orange direct will often do deals that we can't do in retail.....
It wouldn't surprise me if there are a lot of N95-1s still in the Orange estate. The handset still costs £89.99 on one of the £35 tariffs to new customers. Those same people can get it for free on similar tariffs from other providers. |

I know i've just upgraded last month but looking ahead to march as it'll be upgrade time again and am not seeing many exciting new handsets coming to orange. |
