Useless Kitchen Gadgets

What are yours?
Mine are the loads of attachments that came with my food processor! They take up loads of room in the cupboard but i've never used one of them, truth be known I don't even know what most of them are for. Oh, and a lemon zester, pointless bloody thing!

A "Frothy" that my Brother gave us. We used it once, but cleaning it was an arse.

He has also give us a Tefal QuickCup, and while it is a good idea, the taste of the water out of it (at present anyway) is utterly horrid. As I'm the only person in the house that consistantly drinks hot beverages, it's a bit pointless.

If I want zest I use a microplane or if I want strips I use a vegetable peeler to get thick strips and then julienne them. I find that a lot easier than a zester. Or maybe i've got a crap zester?

Yeah my zester is rubbish as well, or it could just be the way I use it

Anything that is fiddly to assemble and a takes a blooming age to clean for what you get out of it.

Chocolate fountains come to mind and every useless gadget is called a choc fountain

Popcorn maker - it does the job but sends popcorn all over the kitchen

The two which never get used are a mandolin and a potato rumbler attachment for my Kenwood.

They might be worth using if I were cooking for 15 people, but there's usually just me.

I love my mandoline, and recently upgraded to a professional model. For one though, you are probably better using a sharp knife.

Microwave omelette maker thing: http://www.betterware.co.uk/images/d...m_1/017916.jpg
I was so excited when I got it but it soooooooooo doesn't work, the egg just sticks to it and makes a mess!

Doesn't it have a lid then?

I love popcorn making. I use a good old pan with a lid though.

^ the pan is best and more fun.

I got a machine as a present, but the stuff comes out very dry. Because no moisture is used, its impossible to flavour properly.

I've just found their website, and I've seen them advertised. I thought they look like quite a good idea, but I don't think it will be the death of the kettle .... yet !

when I saw the name quickcup I thought of the old heating element you could put in your mug. Does anyone remember those? I think Argos etc had them in the early 80's. I doubt health and safety would allow them now They looked really barbaric to me (as a young lad), anyone use one? (and survive!)
