It's a nice day today so we've got a few mates coming round and I'm going to fire the BBQ up. I've picked a nice selection of session strength pales and sours that I've not had before that'll hopefully be great to drink in the garden in the sun. Really looking forward to it.
Plus, it'll be the first sampling of the stout that I brewed a few weeks ago, hopefully it'll go down well.”
Update on my Beer 52 situation, they sent out my replacement starter pack, so I got another 10 beers for free essentially. The good thing is they sent me another To Ĝl, this time it is Gose to Hollywood which is perfect given I have enjoyed the sours and goses lately. Some other interesting looking stuff that I won't list now, I may mention them as and when I try them. The only downside was they sent another Surfbum IPA that was in the original pack and this was quite disappointing. They also sent a bottle of Vedett, which I have had before and is just a fairly standard lager.
I started my Magic Rock stash with the Salty Kiss. I was expecting it to be more sour or salty than it was, but it was still lovely and refreshing. I only got the one unfortunately, but I am looking forward to trying some of the others. I took a gamble on the Common Grounds coffee porter, very intrigued by it but not sure how I will find it.
On Thursday, I popped down into Central London to meet some old university friends, I was in London early so I popped to the Euston Tap for a quick half of a fantastic Raspberry Sour from the Kernel brewery. Outstanding.
I had a pint of cask in another pub on my way to meeting up, a pale ale from Redemption Brewery, quite lemony and refreshing.
I found the Soho Brewdog pub, there I had a lovely Juicebox IPA from Fourpure, packed with punch and flavour. Later in the evening I had a can of Foupure Session IPA, which was alright, pretty much what you would expect from the name.
The disappointment was the Red Squirrel Mad European IPA on cask, which I'm not sure if was just a poor beer or poorly kept as Red Squirrel are usually good, they are fairly local to me in fact.
The only other beer I tried was Brewdog Hop Fiction on Keg (not in a Brewdog pub though) which was nice enough.
Jambo, do you only drink beer or do you move onto spirits ever? I am a massive fan of Gin and Tonic lately, although I better not diverse too much because that certainly would be outside the remit of this thread.
