Piston Porter from Oakleaf Brewery
Stokers Stout from Oakleaf Brewery Russian Winter from Itchen Double Stout from Hook Norton Stout Mary Otter Head Riggwelter Abbot I am lucky as there is a Real Ale pub 5 mins walk away, there is always a large selection with a fast turnover, the beer is always in tip-top condition. Their house beer is Hole Hearted (which I do not like as I cannot stand Cascade hops). |

The biggest problem with where I live is that none of my local pubs do any decent ale. I really should have thought about that before buying the house...
Some faves (in no real order) Tim Taylor Landlord Adnams Broadside (or anything by Adnams) Shepherd Neame Spitfire (but doesn't travel well) Theakston's Old Peculier (but probably only 2 pints max!) Jennings Snecklifter (especially on a cold wet day in the Lakes) Wadworth 6X (as a session ale) I really cannot stand London Pride. I can never get it out of my head that it's made with London water, though their ESB isn't too bad. I used to live on Old Speckled Hen but went off it when the ABV was reduced a few years ago. |

never realised the abv had been reduced on old speckled hen. I used to drink it quite a lot around 5-6 years ago, had a bottle for the first time in ages recently and I thought it was ok. although I think I do remember it being better when I was younger?

Yes. OSH went down from 5.2% to about 4.5% in about 2008 as part of a rebranding when it was bought by Greene King. The drop off in quality is probably more to due with it being made by GK than the change in the ABV.

For anyone in the Yorkshire Area. A new beer shop is opening soon in Ossett and they will be having a stall at the new local produce market on Saturday in Ossett Market Place.
Beers from Ossett, Ilkley & Little Valley on sale along with a few non UK beers. |

![]() (Only kidding. Couldn't resist. )I am partial to any sort of coffee-ish dark beers, myself. Though I've not had that one. I'm partial to Ascot's Anastsia stout, at the moment. |

Yep, Badgers Tanglefoot is certainly an acquired taste. Their Golden Glory and Golden Champion are more the everyman's drink.
My current favourite is Jennings Snecklifter |

I'm off out tonight. My first port of call will be the ship and shovel @ charing cross so i will be tucking into one of the Hall and woodhouse ales. Then the Lemon tree so it will be a pint of Harveys best. Then who knows.

Ah, the Ship and Shovel. I used to go ther years ago when I worked round there. Not that bothered about the Lemon Tree, but The Harp ( or Welsh Harp?) very close by is a great place with a good stock of ales. I always go there when I visit London
Lemon tree is nice been done up and the landlady has a couple of things about her ![]() Add to my list before St peters IPA, Brains SA & McMullen’s Country |
