Well's Waggle Dance was my most recent tipple.

Just right for me as I don't like bitter ales but it's not too sweet either

Had a couple of bottles last night.

First was Well's Banana Bread Beer. Weird stuff. I think it may go well as a dessert beer. It's a bit too sickly to be drinking pints of.
Possibly would go well with a fruity malaysian/sri lankan curry.

Other was Greene King IPA Gold. Refreshing and zingy.

I drink Banana Bread Beer at my local in pints, don't find it sickly at all.

Been neglecting this thread recently, apologies!

Loving Doom Bar at the moment, seems to have gained popularity in the pubs round here lately.

Doom Bar is quite a regular in London pubs now as well. Has the brewery been bought out by a multinational or is their marketing and distribution dept just doing a sterling job?

Great to see so many people in their 20's and 30's drinking it as well.

Yeah, my brother in law has just converted to the real stuff after drinking lager for years.
I think they may have something to do with Coors now as I just registered on their website and it asked if ok to send marketing stuff from Coors as well as from the Sharp's brewery?

I'll have to visit there in July then

I mostly go to Brewdog these days, its hard getting decent real ales in Supermarkets here also, I usually grab a few duvels, or Leffes when I am in, would be nice to see some Samuel Smiths in my big local.

Yes coors own doombar but leave it alone just as regards to how it is brewed.

A nice pint of Butty Bach goes down well.

None of this Doom Bar or Green King rubbish for me now I'm back up in Gods own country. This brewery is amazing http://www.kirkstallbrewerycompany.com/our-beer/
Their Three Swords is particularly brilliant!

Any fans of Old Specklen Hen out there? I love it but it's so strong I can't cope with too many!

The other night had a bottle of Fuller's Honey Dew and Ringwood Boondoggle.

I do like the lighter ales and even though the Honey Dew was sweeter I thought that Boondoggle have the better flavour.

I've enjoyed all the blone ales i've had recently though. Will have to pick up another 4 when they are on offer.

Had a couple of my favourite beers the other day, a lovely pint of Thornbridge Kipling followed up with a nice pint of Thornbridge Jaipur. The Jaipur is great, very easy to drink which probably isn't a good thing when it's 5.9%!

Had a Golden Sheep the other day too which was pretty nice.

I'm very lucky with where I live. My local has 10 beers that change every week and in town there are at least 6 good real ale pubs, there's even a good late night bar that plays decent indie music and sells beer from the brewery just down the road. Pretty rare for a bar like that. It's good because I can have a night out round town ending up in somewhere that plays good music, have a bit of a dance but I still get to drink great beer!

I tried the Golden Champion. It tasted like a full flavoured lager topped with sprite In a good way. It had a fruity, zesty taste to it.

I used to work in a hall and woodhouse pub, Tanglefoot was the best!

Had another couple of bottles the other night.

Thumbs up form Maxim Thirst Place

Thumbs down for ASDA Extra Special Golden Ale. It one of the only beers recently that I haven't enjoyed. It tasted like lager you get when the pipes are bad.

The best pub I know for real ales is the Bree Louise, which is about 100 yards from Euston. Amazing pub and have the biggest selection of cask ales I've ever seen in a pub (and always something new to try) as well as hand pulled. It may be 200 miles from home, but I count is as my local! Usually in there at least once a week (I work in London a lot - it's not THAT good a pub!).

The discount for camra members has already paid for my membership .

Hmm, that all sounds like an advert! No affiliation other than really liking the pub

I really can't understand why so many people like Old Speckled Hen, which seems quite mass produced and anonymous to me. My heart also sinks if I go into a pub and all they've got are beers such as Wychwood, Charles Wells, Hopback, John Smith's or London Pride.

I find my tastes have changed throughout the years and also according to the weather. Top beers oin no particular order of preference are:

Oakham Ales Mompesson's Gold
Newby Wyke White Squall (but just about every beer they make)
Rooster's Rooster (do they still make it?)
Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild
Nethergate Old Growler
Barnsley IPA (but not Barnsley Bitter, which I can't stand)
Ossett Excelsior
Oakham Ales Citra is a weird one - sometimes I love it, yet at other times I find it difficult to finish a pint.

One that baffles me is Oakham Ales Green Devil. It keeps winning awards, yet to me, it is the nastiest beer I have ever tasted. So tangy and acidic that it strips the taste buds from your mouth. I had to have a Guinness afterwards to take the taste away.

A brewery that is consistently producing absolutely top notch ales is Buxton.

If you're able to get hold of any of their stuff the Axe Edge and Wild Boar are simply superb.
