Just bringing these stats over from last week's thread, and updating with today's and last year's wk6 figures:

BB4
Week 1 - Anouska evicted - 594,393 votes...... £148,598.25
Week 2 - Justine evicted - 640,081 votes........ £160,020.25
Week 3 - Sissy evicted - 897,852 votes............. £224,463.00
Week 4 - Fed & Jon evicted - 1,735,317 votes... £433,829.25
Week 5 - Tania evicted - 676, 109 votes ........... £169,027.25
Week 6 - Gos evicted - 576,965 votes.................£144,241.25

BB3
Week 1 - Lynne evicted - 1,200,000 votes*............ £300,000
Week 2 - Alison evicted - 1,405,191 votes........... £351,297.75
Week 3 - Lee evicted - 1,204,346 votes ............... £301,086.50
Week 4 - Spencer evicted - 2,740,988 votes........ £685,247
Week 5 - Sophie evicted - 1,039,770 votes.......... £259,942.50
Week 6 - Adele evicted - 3,427,202 votes............. £856,600.50

( *approximate figure, couldn't find exact figure but it is quoted in various news reports at the time as "just over 1.2million" total votes cast)

Accumulative to wk6 :
BB3 ..... 11,017,497 votes...... £2,754,374
BB4 ....... 5,120,717 votes....... £1,280,179

= currently down 54% on last year ...........especially abysmal when you consider that BB4 wks 4 & 6 are inflated by anomalous circumstances

Why do so many people seem to be taking pleasure in the failure of BB4? I didn't enjoy this series myself, and haven't watched since about week 3 when I decided it wasn't going to get any better. I wouldn't dream of rubbing my hands in glee about it, though, and I'm certainly not hoping it gets any worse. That'll just mean the show will get axed when it could potentially recover from the disasterous year it's had this time round.

Is there any way of finding out how many votes were cast after Friday night?

What I found interesting was that people actually go use their interactive to vote. There was 184,225 that voted this week using interactive!

Gregorian "Can't watch, won't watch", where are you now when you are really needed?

Oh, I know where you are. You're down the pub. See you later for your comment. Just don't post in "TV Ratings Plunge". It doesn't belong in there. Create a new thread or something and keep bumping that up...
”

Never fear, Papyrus, for I am here. Yes, I was at a far better event than yesterday's BB, but is that hard? Your softness for Gos is a little overdone, I feel. His heart's in the right place, I grant you, but he played the game in a negative way. On the positive side, the new nomination system is a good innovation as it really confronts the person with who is hated and who is nominated? It has the potential to divide the house more neatly at a time when the cash is within grasp.

That is surprising. I thought most people took the phone connection out of the sky box after the applicable year (cos thereafter its not sky's business what you do imo).

Anybody got any infor on how much they are making from the scrolling texts or those polls? Would those in any way shape or form make up the deficit in voting numbers?

Mars has lots of calories, though. I wonder how many interactive votes are made by accident while trying to turn back to 'normal telly'?

do they make money off the interactive voting, or is it free?

Interactive voting costs the usual 25p. Even by mistake, as I found out last year.

In the end it didn't matter, she finished fourth and disappeared never to be seen again. Possibly.

They spent more than that on the pointless BBA swop.

I think your post says it all, sooner or later people learn that their vote doesn't really have much significance. If people vote and the character they want out stays, it only has to happen a few times to them for them to question what's the point. Even if future BBs are better than this one, I can see it being a long term trend of declining voting figures.

Which'll become a big problem for C4, depending on how much it costs to stage BB, and whether they can make cost savings or generate cash in other ways - like letting viewers decide on what sort of pub the HMs should have this week. Plus making cost savings would probably reduce the quality of the show, so it could become a death spiral.

But it seems obvious to everyone that future BBs need characters that people need feel strongly enough about. Either love or hate.

oh yeah, and although I like BB, I've personally never bothered to vote, never thought it would have any significance unless I was prepared to spend £££s. Prefer to let what happen happen

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I wonder how much the OTT text-begging is bringing in?

It is pretty relentless with new, pointless questions being asked on the E4 scroller almost every hour as well as ones on the interactive service.

Together with the tedious 'Scott is fit' bollox, I wonder if the revenue that this brings in helps off-set the losses from the reduced voting figures?

I wonder about this too. The only certainty is that only their shareholders will get told anything informative. Have I got time to learn enough Dutch before their next annual report, I wonder?

Man can not live on texts alone - especially as this charge of 25p is likely to come down over the years
