I think it is a stunning album, one of the top three albums of 2007 ( based on its download release date ). I will admit to being a fan of the earlier Radiohead of "The Bends" and "OK Computer" and I think "In Rainbows" is to some extent a return to that genre of music after the diversions of "Kid A" and "Hail to the Thief".

"In Rainbows" finds Thom Yorke bang on creative form and as usual with Radiohead the whole is greater than the sum of all the parts so very difficult to pick out tracks of special merit...this album is to be bought and savoured in its entirety but its worth noting that "nude" whom many will remember from the OK computer tour is finally given form and committed to a recording, and it was well worth the wait.

Gratifying that Radiohead continue to resist their music being splintered and sold by track via iTunes...In Rainbows is to be coveted and treasured, its a true 5 star album and deserves to be listened to as such...in its entirety.

Radiohead have largely passed me by (I lived overseas during the mid 90's so missed out when they really took off). What album would you recommend to ease me in to them?

I would recommend starting with The Bends and trying the albums in order after that if you like what you hear. Don't worry too much about the debut album and don't be put off by negative opinions of Kid A until you've heard it for yourself.

It's their best since OK Computer, though I liked the albums in between as well

Cheers, I'll give it a go.

Same here, and it gets better with every play. At first I really didn't like 15 Step but now it's my favourite track on the album (although Nude is beautiful and Jigsaw is already a classic).

I didn't like it much first time around. But put it on repeat for 3 times and really got into it. Nude is my favourite track.

The best albums grow on you rather than hit you straight away.

Definetly their best since Ok Computer.

It's an instant classic, which is odd as I usually need several dozen plays to start enjoying a new RH album, perhaps because this is the first where I'd already heard versions of all the songs earlier and so was comparing the studio version to the earlier one. I don't think I'll feel so passionately pro this one as I did with say Kid A but it is a glorious listen, third I'd say after KA and Ok Comp.

The only big fault for me is that some of the bonus tracks on the second album, which I've got off youtube were utter stunners and could have replaced a couple of the actual ones, not sure which though! Four-minute warning is an epic almost perfect end of an album song and Last Flowers is one of their all-time greats and as good as Nude.

Very good point. Down is the New Up as well, great track.

Last Flowers is one of the best tracks, perhaps the best track on the whole two disks.
