I Heard Jordin's Song on the Radio...
SteveOwen
13-01-2008
I heard Jordin's single 'Tattoo' played on the radio when I was in the gym earlier. I think it's only the 2nd only time I've heard an Idol winner's music played on national UK radio (Kelly Clarkson obviously being the other one.)

Anyone ever heard anyone else get any airplay?

Wow didn't know they'd play it over here, don't think there is a planned UK release.

Great. Their album did have a proper release here though. What station/s did you hear them on - was it a rock one?

No it wasnt a rock station, just a local radio station that plays a mixyure of everything.

Ive also heard "Ever Ever After" by Carrie on there aswell, never any of her other songs, so mayne just cos that was is to the Disney film.

The 21st of this month, really?

Yep, official UK release as far as I know. But like I said, I haven't seen any promo at all. It's been available on import for a while.

Edit: it's available on play from Monday. Maybe they'll flog it during the ad breaks on AI?

Daughtry's album got a proper release over here last year also with no promotion. Makes you wonder why they bother.

I "obtained" Jordin's album the other night, its quite good and her voice sounds really good on some of the slower songs.

I got Jordin's album for Christmas, and I love it! I'm glad it's getting aUK release though - but it'd be nice if some effort was made with it. I'd love her to see her live and I can't imagine being able to afford to see her in America any time soon

If Kelly can be successful in the UK then I reckon Jordin can as she reminds me of a younger version, especially on "Permanent Monday" and "Now You Tell Me", where as I think the other winners' styles appeal more to the American market.

I'm not sure fi J-Hud ever ad any airplay but she's become well known over here since Dreamgirls and is often used as an example of how successful a non-winner can be, as Daughtry have also been.

If Idol's going to be shown in the UK, the powers that be should realise that its UK viewers are going to be interested in hearing and buying music by the Idols once the show is over, and that even those who don't watch Idol may be interested in buying the music of Idols if it's good enough

Richard Allinson played a Daughtry tune a few days ago on BBC R2 when he was depping for Sarah Kennedy. He went into a good bit of detail too, explaining who Chris Daughtry was etc. etc.

I heard Daughtry on Radio 2 on the Steve Wright.

Great to read that Jordin has been heard on UK radio. Personally at 17 I think that if she is given the chance (ie not dropped at the merest hint of lower than expected sales) she could be wiping the floor with other female winners * and a lot of other female singers in a couple of years' time.

* Maybe that is what Simon is worried about.

It's probably the poorest album by any winner. Not the quality of her vocals but of the songs. Shame as she has a very good voice (great for a 17 year old), good performance skills and a lovely persona.

Jordin sang the National Anthem at the Superbowl last Sunday........possibly the best version of it I have heard, certainly the best at a sporting event (and Ive heard loads)

Massive exposure for her with the Superbowl averaging 97 million viewers

She only managed to sell about 5,000 CDs on the back of that exposure, though. Josiah Leming managed to sell 1,000 EPs last week just from being on AI. Which is over 700 more than Carly Smithson/Hennessy? managed when she was on a £2m contract for a year.

Latest Jordin news is that she's going to be (perhaps is already) supporting Alicia Keys on tour, which should be very good for her.
