I imagine that all Lee fans are these people who defend anything bad said about him - and I dont understand. He is human and not perfect.

I cant believe the Lee appreciation thread - how serious people actually are - how can you all spend hours and hours going over the same old stuff - how gorgeous he is e.t.c and if anyone challenges anything about Lee - you all go and complain that someone is wrecking your thread....

Maybe I am not understanding the forum thing, but I thought it was a place to express your own views - but if you post anything negative about Lee Mead on this forum - you are reported and ignored!!!!!! how ridiculous.

I understand that you have an 'appreciation' thread - but really, you are all a bit serious - I mean to actually suggest that you ignore someone who goes against your views (!!!!!!!!!) are you all 14?????

I remain rather scared of Lee fans - I am a bit scared of anyone who is narrowminded and deluded.....................I await the attack from the Lee army....

I became a victim of these people. However, if you look at other LM forums the same posters are out there doing the same thing.

They just don't seem to have the intellect to deal with the concept that there are opinions other than their own.

Lee has thousands of fans.
They are not all the same person so saying 'all Lee fans' is a little overboard

Everyone is entitled to have their opinions on DS, and it's only right that it should be acknowledged with respect. Have you had a problem by posting something untoward in the Appreciation thread? In that case, yes only good pro-Lee things may be said, but you still have the right to your views in other threads.

I know some Lee fans and they're blooming lovely ! I'm also aware of some that I have no desire to talk to either - so theres good and bad everyhere and surely it doesn't just apply to Lee ?

Thank you, Trixiehobbit. I must agree that Lee has attracted such a massive fan base that they've all branched out into different categories. Some are quite scary, others are very nice. I think most are harmless but yes, you'll run into the occasional fanatic.

I am trying to understand what IceQueen is saying and can only smile in amusement. There are many famous people who came before Lee and sent millions of innocent women into screaming delight like Elvis or the Beatles. Lee is the next hot ticket in show business after winning a nationwide competition and becoming a West End leading man. He is certainly very popular whether he likes it or not! I am also certain that he would not want his fans to be foaming at the mouth or tearing each other apart in the fight to defend his honor.

Back to Trixiehobbit, the entire fan base can't represent the man himself. And truth be told, the ones that I've met up with and talked to in person have been very helpful and supportive. It's about good judgement and knowing where to set the limit.

I agree to say 'all Lee fans' is a bit OTT.

As for the Lee Appreciation thread it isn't a case of being untoward and/or anti - pro-Lee. The issue is being allowed by others to express a different opinion. A different opinion doesn't necessarily mean it's untoward and/or anti-Lee.

Incidentally, I talked to someone at the theatre at the weekend who said they saw Lee walking to the theatre and he was being hassled by someone. Now that's anti-Lee.

I think you need to use a bit of common sense when posting. The Lee Appreciation Thread is not the place to be posting 'contraversial' comments - and if you do, you have to expect a 'backlash'.

At the end of the day, if you post contraversial/inflammatory comments, you can't expect everyone to agree with you or politely disagree. You must accept that some people will be passionate in their defensive arguments.

As for your sweeping generalization - please do not automatically assume that you know what all Lee fans are like. I know quite a few and they're all lovely, tolorent folk with a good sense of humour who are always happy to lend a shoulder to cry on or share a laugh. It's become more than a fan group - Lee is what brought us together, but friendships have formed beyond that! People share their experiences of family, love, loss and whatever else life throws at them.

In the main, we accept that some people will have views that could be construed as being 'different' - let's face it, if we all shared the same opinion of everything, it would be a boring world! The point is, if you want people to respect your views (even if they don't share them), you have to show them respect in return, which you haven't done! Starting this nasty thread is not going to endear you to anyone and is certainly not going to encourage people to listen to what you have to say.

Re: the suggestion to ignore someone - this is the recommended way in internet forums to deal with a 'troll' (i.e. someone who is deliberately out to cause trouble). So it isn't a childish reaction - just what DS (and other forums) tell forum members to do!

You did not become a 'victim' of the Lovelees! If you post negative comments about Lee (especially when they are in an APPRECIATION thread) then you should expect some opposing response and it just so happens that there is a lot of support for Lee on this forum - and not just from Lovelees! *waves to Angels, Keithlettes and Craigettes *

I would like to point out that one of those forums was set up directly by the members of the DS Lee appreciation thread and so we are entitiled to say what we want on our own site

And many members of this forum are members on both - as well as other sites which I don't see as a problem - as far as I have seen there are no rules saying you can only post on one site.

As for not having the 'intellect' - that is rather unnecesary and not very nice thing to say ... especially as you haven't taken the time to get to know any of us (maybe you should come back to our site and chat to us there?) you aren't in a position to comment.

We are all happy to admit there are opposing opinions that people hold against Lee - I am a Keith fan who helps run the Lovelees site and has no real interest in Lee for a start! - but as long as those opposing opinions are expressed eloquently and actually have a point to them - as opposed to just being slanderous, deliberately controversial or unfounded - then we are more than happy to discuss them

mel1213 Genuine questions for mel1213and NOT meant to upset, offend anyone or start any problems:

1. You did not become a 'victim' of the Lovelees! Where/when did I say I was a victim of the Lovelees?

2. If you post negative comments about Lee (especially when they are in an APPRECIATION thread Where did I post negative comments about Lee on the appreciation thread?

3. I would like to point out that one of those forums was set up directly by the members of the DS Lee appreciation thread and so we are entitiled to say what we want on our own site. Is the Lovelees an open forum or a private forum/owned by you?

4. As for not having the 'intellect' - that is rather unnecesary and not very nice thing to say ... especially as you haven't taken the time to get to know any of us (maybe you should come back to our site and chat to us there?) you aren't in a position to comment.

I have experienced the responses of some forum members. They have made very some unpleasant posts, most of which have now been removed. So I am in a position to comment.

But then who judges whether or not they are expressed eloquently and actually have a point to them - as opposed to just being slanderous, deliberately controversial or unfounded?

As someone who has been at the other end of your posts, I would say that it wasn't so much your differing opinion on lee which upset FM's but your attacking of members. May I remind you that that is against the forum T & C's and one of the reasons you were out in the cold for a short time. I hope you have learnt your lesson.

The ADWD forum is basically a great place where fans of all the boys generally get on and is only when outsiders come in and deliberately upset the status quo we get riled. Having said that we very much welcome new members who are civil to others even if they do have differing opinions .

And the answers to my questions?????
I think if you answered some of these it would be clear that you have been stalking me.

Never was I out in the cold. I have friends on DS, as you have probably seen and other forums. How we have laughed about all this.

I see a completely unprovoked nasty post about me today from one the clan has been removed.

Furthermore, one of your clan called me a troll and then recently went on to say on another post the best policy is to ignore trolls. If you 'all' think I'm so bad and/or a troll you could take this advice and ignore me or make my posts invisible. But you haven't done this.

I can only draw my own conclusions as to the reason for this.

Who? I suppose that was meant to be an insult.

Shall I respond with another directed at you?

I have given this some thought and was thinking of sending a pm to one of you to explain but would it be worth it?

You know what, I'm bowing out (dis)gracefully too. I shouldn't have said what I said two posts up. I apologize because I'm just joining in the bashing if I go any further. And this is turning into a bit of an ewoodie-bashing session. I think perhaps she's a lot younger than me so it's unfair of me to have a go. Maybe she doesn't know to react any other way. Whatever the reason for it all is, I've just put myself in her shoes and reread a couple of posts. Time was, I might have reacted so angrily too - purely from being hurt at being misunderstood by so many people and unable to express myself in a way to reach them peacefully.

Edited to add: No, it wasn't an insult.

ewoodie, someone or something about these threads has obviously really upset you at some point, and perhaps you might feel better if you did explain to someone . I am not a lovelee, I am from an entirely different thread, with no axe to grind. So if it would help, you can certainly pm me.

No, you have great grace to say what you just did. I repsect you greatly for that.

I doubt I am younger than you!! Remember we all reacted in a similar way so age is no excuse.
