I love the voice of the guy who does the NASA commentary for the launch. Sounds a bit like Kevin Spacey!

Mandark, Kyle Herring was the launch commentator after SRB Ignition so I'll assume you meant him

Thanks for that. He's very entertaining!

Just googled him. Doesn't look like what I expected. I thought he'd look a bit like Kevin Spacey or Nicholas Cage!

Talking of things getting hit, take a look at this image From Cassini.. OUCH:

http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/multimedi.../N00103724.jpg

N00103724.jpg was taken on March 11, 2008 and received on Earth March 11, 2008. The camera was pointing toward TETHYS at approximately 764,707 kilometers away, and the image was taken using the CL1 and CL2 filters.

I've often wondered about this happening...well know I know it can occur.

From that article:

It is unclear if that is the same incident that Mission Control mentioned to crew members when it told them that "We have observed one piece of debris passing the right wing at 83 seconds — no impact was seen."
If ABC News want to tell me which birds they think can fly at about 100,000 feet I'd be very amused.

A few more interesting news stories from the BBC:

A meteorite which ploughed into the Peruvian countryside last year should have broken up in the atmosphere long before reaching the ground.

And

Stunning high-definition movies of the Moon's surface have been sent back by a Japanese space probe.

Selene, or Kaguya, arrived at the Moon late last year and carries a large HDTV camera to shoot footage as it flies 100km above the lunar surface.

FYI NASA TV is showing occasional flight deck video right now as they set up for rendezvous and docking today.

Docking is early this morning, so I might stay up for it.

Yeah, cloud cover was crap.

Night time launches are fast losing their appeal on me. You see a lot at first, and then it's just a point of light
