Strangely I did my one and only Airfix model at around that time but it was aircraft carrier not a Saturn V

Yes, they did.

I have a vague memory of my brother having a large airfix model of the lunar lander. The one in the rocket kit must have been rather small. In fact, I can't even remember it, though I do remember the service module.

It's not too late for you!

"The weather at the Cape is a little better than yesterday, and we would like you to suit up per the plan," Mission Control just told the shuttle crew.

There are showers off to the east and south. But there's at least a small bit of optimism that the Florida weather could possibly cooperate later this morning for landing.

If not it will come back to Edwards later.

Indeed, BeethovensPiano. That successful repair mission should ensure that the Hubble Space Telescope (http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/) continues in operation for another decade or so. I hope that it will provide many more insights and discoveries.

"Houston, Atlantis. Wheels stopped Edwards, 22," commander Scott Altman radioed as he brought Atlantis to a halt.

"Welcome home, Atlantis. Congratulations on a very successful mission giving Hubble a new set of eyes that will continue to expand our knowledge of the universe," the CAPCOM replied from Mission Control.

"Thank you, Houston. It was a thrill from start to finish. We've had a great ride. It took a whole team across the country to pull it off. My hat's off to you all. Thank you so much."

Now who was that predicting that this mission to rescue Hubble would be a disaster?

I have alway said that he messed up his lines. You can hear his hesitation where he realises what he has done.

When you play the clip (linked to above) it seems (at least to me) to flow like this... "One small step for man." Slight pause as he realises (I always called this the 'Oh Sh*t' moment) , "one...." shorter pause... "giant leap for etc. etc."

Yes....

I later built a working model of the Mercury Redstone which flew many "missions" and is now retired in the garage.

I also started to build a space shuttle but the engine exploded spectacularly on the "test pad"
