hi to you all.
hopefully the right place to ask for advice.
help!, what to get.
i"ll cut to the chase, 10 year old panny tv, rigged up to a panny dmr-ex95v vcr/dvd player, a silvercrest sl 65 sat
receiver and freeview inverto idl 7000 pvr.
following a blood rush to my head i went and got a fortec
star passion hd sat receiver from maplins,
i must say i do get a good piccys ,sd on the panny with the passion (sat) as well as freeview.
with the hd freesat stations coming up soon, ish i figure its
now the time to get a hd ready tv or full hd tv, but which one ?
viewing distance to the panny crt screen on my shelf is round 6 feet, with a hd flat screen 6-7 feet, so can anybody suggest what make / screen size to go for??
cheers les.....

At 6-7 feet, the ideal size screen is 37" Any bigger and you will see pixelation or blurring.

That doesn't mean that you can't get away with a bigger screen, some manufacturers do a pretty good job of processing the image to improve the picture quality. Best advice would be to view a range of screens and compare picture quality if you know anyone that has one or a good independent retailer. Currys, Comet etc... are useless for this as their setups don't do any tv's justice.

As for manufacturer, it's pretty much down to personal choice. Again choosing 1080p over 720p is personal choice.
Normally I would get the best spec tv possible within my budget.
A 1080p at 37" can be had for as little as £650 at the moment.

My current main TV is a 36" CRT and I have no plans to change it unless it dies.

Very appealing. Especially with the 3yr guarantee.
£479 is the best online price I can find.

Samsung is the first choice for me. Closely followed by Panasonic.
