Just wondering, as a relative received a Bush 32" LCD for Christmas (can't remember the model number I'm afraid, but it had Freeview built in) and the picture quality was terrible.

There were no blacks, only dark grey; and when viewing the EPG screen on Sky the yellow bled into the blue background giving the effect of a green shadow about 1mm wide round all the yellow areas.

I'm in the market for a new bedroom LCD and want to make sure I don't end up buying something similar with a different badge - so who makes Bush these days? I seem to remember them being a fairly decent make when I was a kid.

Could be a few people, generally it's Vestel, Beko or Haier.

These manufacturers make items for all of the cheap brands, so basically avoid any of the following:

Goodmans, Bush, Alba, Grundig, Beko, Proline, Kenmark, Matsui, Logik, Cello, Mikomi, Acoustic Solutions and any of the cheap supermarket brands.

Bush went bust 25-30 years ago, the name was bought by some cheap outfit in the Far East, so there's been no actual 'Bush' products since then, just cheap badged gear.

Have you seen the 'reproduction' Bush radios you can get, the ones with the round tuning dial - they couldn't even get the colour right, they have copied an old fade one, which bears little resemblance to the original colour

I looked in a 'Bush' plasma the other week, that was actually an Orion set - the people who make a lot of the cheap Matsui stuff for Dixons group.
