Britons are embracing the Government’s “five-a-day” message as never before — that’s one cheeseburger, fries, a Coke, ice-cream, and, go on then, a portion of chicken nuggets.

ha ha. very funny!!! but on a serious note it is very alarming story.

I was thinking about McDonalds today.........I have a complete aversion to junk food - the look / taste just doesn't appeal to me. McDonalds has always made me feel sick afterwards. (I'm vegetarian now so wouldn't go there anyway)

I was wondering if this was because my mum never took me there, I was about 16 when i had my first McDonalds.Which I think is unusual as I am only 26 now - I am of the fast food generation.

I'm sure people wouldn't enjoy this stuff so much if their bodies hadn't got used to it growing up!

McDonalds is only unhealthy if you eat it all the time, once or even twice a week isn't bad for you so that statistic doesn't really mean anything.

A single Big Mac Meal with a coke or milkshake adds up to well over a 1200 calories, how can that be in any way, good for you.

I didn't say it was good for you. But once a week won't do you any harm at all.

in one way, you are right, cos it's the same as having a very healthy meal and then having lots of chocolate bars everyday.

The thing is it's hard to trust them when you can't see the nutritional content of each Big Mac meal. It's better to know what you're eating even if it is unhealthy.

in the end of the day, i think it's all about moderation.

I have never eaten at Maccies and I doubt I ever will. A friend of my brothers was explaining to us a few years back that any troublesome customers usually ended up with spittle in their fries and onion rings.

I prefer the home-made stuff.

All the nutritional information is available on their website for anyone to look at. I think most restaurants carry information as well.

That is a contradiction. It's only 'bad' for you if you eat it seldomly? ... That means it is bad for you. In small amounts then everything is good for you then?

Eating that crap occasionally may do harm over a longer period, but it still is crap. The frequency of eating it doesn't change what it actually is.

you can try an experiment yourself, the more unhealthy food you eat, the more the want to eat, and the more healthy food you eat the more you want to eat that.

Yes, everything is ok in moderation. If you smoke 1 cigarette a week it won't do you any harm, nor will a couple of glasses of booze a week. One McDonalds a week won't harm you in any way.

Seen it. If you eat anything to excess every day you will get ill, Morgan Spurlock just targeted McDonalds.

I most certainly am not going to any of those awful places. I have better and healthier things to spend my money on.

I had my one and only 2008 junk food outing last week and went to Wimpy, delish, much better than Maccy D or BK, KFC are off my list of fast food joints until they go free range.

If the government really gave a toss about the health of the general public, they would close McDonalds down. They don't, and they won't.

The film wasn't solely about the health results of overeating junk food.

I find McDonalds revolting. I once had chips from there in desperation but wouldn't have anything else.

I'm the same as you....never went growing up. And I only ever go now if I'm that hungry and no where else is open. And usually the next day I feel awful with an upset tummy! So I'm not sure I'll ever go again.

I can't stand McDonalds, my mum used to take me there once a week or so when I was little but now I wouldn't step foot in the place. Homemade burgers are waaaaay more tasty and you know exactly what has gone into them, the don't exactly take long to make either!
