Not sure how to word this intelligently so here goes! My friend told me last night of companies that buy your old contract off you, then give you a new one. My BB has just died uninsured, and I'm bored of the Carphone whorehouse, but have 6 months left.

Does anybody know of companies that do this, and are they reputable? Dont want to go to Honest Bobs Mobile Phones for it!

I've come across this a couple of times. The few companies that were offering it, did not actually buy out the contract. They asked how many months you had left, if it was in there price range, they sent you a cheque to clear it off.

Anyone daft enough not to use it for that purpose, was left with two mobile phone contracts.

The only high street retailer I knew that used to do it (or may still) was Phones4 U. As for them, as the old saying goes, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask.

If you do find someone who does it, just make sure you read all the small print and be sure of what you are getting into. Or you could end up with two contracts.

OK, stuff that! OK then, my phone is under a year old, does the Trade Description Act cover this as the phone is under 12 months old? Would/how would I get the CPW to 'help' me?
