Hi.
Does anyone know where I can buy catfish in London? I love catfish and would like to get my hands on some. Much obliged. |

I thought of this thread when I saw some catfish yesterday £1.79 a pound in Walthamstow market. I was tempted to buy some but went for the coley instead - two slices for £1.70 - very reasonable. How would you cook catfish anyway?

also known as Pangases, a fresh water meaty fish very new to the UK.
One of the kids chucked some fish in batter in the trolley in Morrisons, and when we looked at it it didn't say cod or haddock, just white fish. When we read the ingredients, the actual fish was pangases. They didn't taste that great either, probably better fresh. |

I bet you'd get it at the fish stall in Borough Market.

Is gresh herring readily available in the UK? - I had some on holiday recently and really enjoyed it. |

Ah yeah, everything in Borough Market is hugely expensive. Still nice to go there and pick up something special for a treat, though.
