Had to take my FIL's phone in to Orange today as when we phoned him it was showing full signal strength on the phone, but going straight to answer phone without showing missed call or answer phone message waiting. The shop is 10 miles from where we live and when the assistant tried to call it rang straight away and did the same when I tried. Went back to FIL feeling a bit stupid, called the phone to show him it was ok and yep straight to answer phone again He has been on the phone to Orange who can't see what the problem is. He also wants to put his old number on the new sim that came with the phone as his old sim is 7 years old so unlikely to support all the new features of his D900i. The person on the phone said he couldn't do it as it was rejecting the new sim (yes it is an orange one!) Anyone know what the problem could be as it's been like this since yesterday

If pay as you go ask the CSR to conduct an upgrade for you. This will make the new sim act on your old account. Thats of course if its Payg. Also ask the csr to check the hlr to make sure do not disturb is not set as active. Also make sure you have no bars or diverts enabled. Of course if that fails try a full soft reset. Does the problem follow the sim?
put the sim in another orange handset does the problem follow? also try a known working sim in the handset is the problem resolved?.
