Cookalong
Will anyone be watching/doing the cookalong with Gordon Ramsay on Friday night, the menu sounds lovely, pan fried scallops with tomato and herb salsa, followed by steak and chips with a rocket and parmesan salad, and then chocolate mousse. Not exactly rocket science, but worth watching I am sure.

It does look nice but I don't have a TV in my kitchen so won't be able to do it as he does. Will probably watch it though and then try it out one day.

I'll be watching, gordon is such an **** he cracks me up, but he has inspired me to try loads of new recipes, one of the things i like about both him and JO is they do real food, stuff you can adapt and do on a tight budget.

Why are they showing it at 9? It's too late to start cooking a 3 course meal.

TommyGavin76 is right, it is too late to start cooking, I wonder why they didn't put it on at 7 or 7.30pm.

8 - 10 is considered prime time, seeing as its GR giving him less than prime time he probrably wouldn't do it.

Yep, I'm doing it. I've signed myself up on the C4 website map of who is taking part. It's Friday night and we don't have to work the next day so it doesn't matter it's a bit late. As mentioned by the OP it isn't a difficult meal to prepare but it should be fun, something I've never done before.

*BUMP*...it's almost time. I know it's a simple menu for us foodies but have any of you decided to go for it?
I'm making it into a romantic evening with hubby. I'll do the cooking whilst he's playing on the computer and when the meal is done?..well....who knows.

Excellent programme I thought, steak maybe a little too cooked for me, but apart from that the menu looked great. Thought Chris Moyles was very funny. Did any DS people actually cook this menu at the same time as Gordon. If you did, what was it like taste wise?

Hi all.
There is also an ongoing thread in the TV Programmes forum which you can use should you wish to take part in some general discussion of the programme itself. You will find this at http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=732108 Thanks DS Forum Support |

It was a good programme and I did give it a go; however I found the pace to be frenzied! I love to cook but not busting my a$$ to get a meal on the table. I was really looking forward to this and was quite disappointed. If Gordon wanted to get people into cooking that was just way too manic, no matter if it wasn’t complicated or not. Sheesh, I was trying to ignore the overexcited pace but found myself hyperventilating along with him. There was no time to enjoy the experience at all with that pace. No love went into the cooking at all! I suppose you will say, well, that’s Gordon and I will believe you now. I thought he would at least chill a bit if he wanted the nation to get with the cooking at home thing. He has now probably left them thinking, the hell with that!
I spent a £13.50 on king scallops today from the fishmonger and another 14.50 on steaks from the local butcher (and working a full day as well). I said screw this after getting the chips in the oven and making the salsa. After spending that amount of money I’m not going to rush cooking expensive food and taking a chance I would ruin it and then wolf it down in 3 minutes and get back out there to throw the steak on, make a salad and have 5 minutes to gobble that too. With a cheaper dish or even two courses I would haver hung in there. As I said, with the money I spent I want to enjoy it. I’ve got the salsa and potatoes done (we are eating the chips now...lol). I put everything away and I’ll do the recipes but at my pace and be able to enjoy it as well without jumping up to race to have it done. I just sat down and enjoyed the rest of the show. I’ll take Gary Rhodes love and tenderness with preparing food any day over that craziness. Good programme once I was able to sit down and watch it.

But you had advert breaks and also the other challenges in which you could eat, seemed okay to me and Caprice managed it. Have you seen her pictures, it all looks lovely
I like to actually taste and enjoy what I am eating especially at that cost! I guess I'm more of a lover of cooking that just a lover of getting it done. Did you notice Gordon didn't eat? By any chance did you give it a go fannyadams?????? How did you do? |
