First of all the majority of his music is all written and produced all by himself and through this he was made a lot of amazing songs with a great sound Billie Jean just one example.
I quite liked Billie Jean when it came out and some other of his records are also well-written, so I will agree that he is a successful song-writer for himself.
He also revolutionised the way music videos where made he made music videos into a art form which has influenced the way music videos are now being made.
music videos started before "Thriller", he just invested a lot more money in his, because he wanted to star in min-films rather than just present the song. I wouldn't say that he was revolutionary, but his budgets were bigger than many other artists.
He is the biggest selling artist of all time with Thriller being the biggest selling album of time which I highly doubt will ever be beaten.
he is popular, but that does not make him great.
He has had a countless number of number 1s worldwide. I bet they have been counted...
He also put on amazing shows at his concerts, he is second to none when it comes to performing on stage he knows how to put on a show.
remember the Brits award show? his act was thought OTT by other musicians and one even got on stage in an attempt to bring it to a halt. he appeared to be associating himself with some kind of messiah and wanting the little children to come unto him. not a very healthy self-awareness IMO.
He is probably the best dancer in music ever.
I can't agree - he was just a bit more of what soul and r&b singers had done before. James Brown would have not agreed with what you say.
Another thing he had was that he had a very great sense of style that was very innovative.
I'm not sure that his 'style' is a winning card any more - do you see lots of parents and children wearing masks? he certainly likes to wear costumes, but how innovative they are is a moot point.
Also he has influenced a lot of today’s major artists including Justin Timberlake, Usher, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and many others.
he's bound to have done, but you only named a very small number. I bet Elvis, James Brown, Aretha Franklin or the Beatles would be more influential overall.
He also sent out a good message in his songs for example man in the mirror and we are the world.
not sure about that point. I can't recall anybody ever saying that they were 'inspired' by his positivity or listed his records on best feel-good lists.
So when you put all this together there is no artist who is as well rounded as Michael Jackson
I don't think you've proved your point - an important artist, but not as great as you'd like me to think.
