I respect that you wanted to why I think what I think and I gave you my answer. I do care about people opinions otherwise I wouldn’t be on DS. We both joined DS in the exact same month and if you look at our posting record you’ll see that I’ve barely posted over 100 times while you have posted over 3000 times I only come on DS read other peoples opinions but now and again you don’t care about certain peoples opinions, it might sound rude but that’s the way it is. It’s kind of like when you don’t really care about what opposition football fans think, that’s probably the best way to describe it. I do not want to comment any further on the matter as this thread is already swaying away from being a appreciation thread and I do not want it swaying anymore.

I wasn't intending to abuse it being an appreciation thread - I was curious about what fans thought and wanted genuine thoughts to consider - I got a few. I don't hate MJs music and have said a fair number of positive things. I wish him well - I wquld be happy if somebody so close to the edge came back and did what they did well. I admire Peter Green who recovered from mental illness and often talk about his music and the regard people hold him in. if MJ recovered in the same way as PG did, I would be pleased that somebody had stepped back from the edge of madness. to most of the public, MJ has gone from pop icon to wierdo - it would be pleasing if he was able to become likeable again.

as for the number of postings - I have the internet on all the time in the office and have posted in lots of areas of DS, especially during BB and XF. it takes but a few moments to add my comments and I am never one to hide. I say what I think, I confront people and I empathise with people. life is about communication - it is a big part of being human.

Do not worry I will not leave the thread I was simply saying I did not want to keep defending my opinion on Michael or defending Michael in general as it is a Appreciation thread and that is all I came on the thread to do appreciate but I have now been sucked into the trap of having to defend Michael. Which is something I have had to do pretty much throughout my 18 years of life and I hoped I didn’t have to do that here but I guess that was asking to much even in a appreciation thread. Below I will now have to fall deeper in the trap as The Spoon has now made one or two comments that I can’t let go without commenting on.


Hello again Spoon we got to stop meeting like this mate. I just said above you have made two comments I just cant let go without expressing my opinion so here goes. The two comments are the ones that I highlighted in bold as you can see. Spoon my friend I have been able to see you’re quite an intelligent guy but I think you have fallen into the trap that the vast majority also have fallen into which I will call the tabloid trap. This is when you believe what the papers and media have said about Michael which is of course what they want. The media have many times twisted things on Michael but I do not want to go into it too much so I will give one example. When it was said that Michael slept in the same bedroom as that boy what they failed to mention is that Michael’s bedroom is in fact 2 floors and they slept on different floors. Something the media conveniently left out of their reports as they knew what they where saying was still technically right and that people would just assume it was a normal 1 floor bedroom as it crosses no ones mind a room could ever be two floors the media knew people would get the wrong idea so they reported it like that. Basically what I’m getting at is that if you call someone on the edge of madness or weird simply because he genuinely loves children and loves nothing more then seeing a child happy whether that is by donating money or letting then enjoy the many things he has at his house then id personally rather be on the edge of madness and weird myself if genuinely caring about children and their happiness is going to be construed in that way. Michael simply wants to make the world a better place, a message he sent out in Heal The World. Michael knows it’s impossible to Change the world on his own so he tries to do the little he can to do create a little bit of happiness the those he can reach out to. I hoped I didn’t have to venture into his what he does outside music and his personal life but I felt I had no choice but to do so I hope I don’t have to anymore in this thread and that we can now simply concentrate more on his music. By the way I don’t have the time to go over what I have wrote as I have a football match in a bit so I’m sorry in advance if their are mistakes in what I have wrote.

if it makes you feel better - i said in another thread that "B-J" was an iconic record of the 80s.

I know that the media don't want to report 'normal' behaviour, but MJs "wierdness" cannot be a tabloid conspiracy - how many other parents make their children wear masks or dangle them out of hotel windows? I'm sorry, but MJ behaves like a head-case, IMO.

I think it has been well reported at the time that M.J. was well stitched up by Martin bashir and the" child " involved on that programme was subsequently the one in the court case where M.J. was foung not guilty on all counts if I remember rightly. Wasn't his mother a known sponger who Michael always seems to be taken in by. He is damned if he helps someone with their hospital bills as was her case ( for Gavin)or he Is damned if he doesn't. Basically the guy will never be able to win.

For my part, I explained why I came on here asking questions - but with an Appreciation thread, you simply have to accept that the majority of people on that thread will have something positive to say about the artist concerned and not post abusively.

Personally, I think MJ is pretty troubled and that came through during his trial. although there was some cogent evidence against him, he was acquitted, but considering the main witnesses against him were financially motivated, it was not a 'perverse' decision by the jury. he was presumed innocent and as some evidence was badly tainted, the jury were entitled to say they considered there was 'reasonable doubt'.
OJ was in the same situation, but was then successfully sued in civil proceedings which are on a different level of probability. same could have happened in civil proceedings between MJ and various people, but even if it did, he was still acquitted and that is that so far as criminality is concerned.

this is not the thread to debate whether "Wacko Jacko" would be a good babysitter, it is one about what merit there is to his performances and how he fits into music's hall of fame.

I think you have some good points to make and I also feel that you do admire some of M.J.'S work.
However the previous poster Is just on here to cause bad feelings and as you say It should be about his music and his future performances and will he cut it etc,etc,etc.
Having seen him In concert when he was much younger and less troubled I just hope he can get back that energy and enthusiasm.
I have no doubt he can still notch up a great song.
